“Very fresh and good Japanese restaurant and it is busy. We really liked everything. The Omakase sushi was such a good value. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. Will come back again to this cute restaurant.”

“I was extremely disappointed when the server told me there’s no salmon sashimi when that’s the only thing I was craving for. I simply do not understand why they cannot serve sashimi but the salmon sushi is still available. We switched it to toro sashimi but we got served with a minced almost a toro paste. I won’t doubt it if you tell me that’s ground pork. Please google the definition of sashimi. No matter how “fusion” you trying to be. Do not mix “tartare” with “sashimi”. No offense but this place is for those who don’t have sushi a lot. It’s not authentic at all. Not the kind of sushi I was hoping for but I wouldn’t say it’s bad. Afterall the price is relatively low. I’d be okay to have sushi with this quality as a bento box or takeout order at midnight when there’s no other choices. It feels like the kitchen just bought supermarket sushi and served it on plates. The hand rolls are slightly better. You might as well just go to KazuNori. At least Servers are friendly and professional. But I still won’t come back again. If you must try this place. Order the “don’t ask just eat” set. Those are serving slightly more premium fishes. Or lower your expectations.”

“This was quite possibly the most disappointing dinner I've ever had. I had heard good things about JOEY and wanted to give it a try. To start the appetizer we ordered, it was sent to the wrong table, so there was an extended wait for it to arrive. We ordered the sake glazed fish, which was Chilean Sea Bass, and the steak & sushi with the add for filet mignon. First, the Chilean sea bass was undercooked and had a strong fishy taste to it. Fresh fish shouldn't taste fishy. The filet mignon I ordered medium, and it was well done with very little pink. Most of the pieces were gray. The service was below standard as well. When all I was drinking was water and my glass was empty, I shouldn't have to ask for it to be refilled. One last thing, and I know this may not matter to anyone else, but when you're paying this much, why are cloth napkins not used?”

Kouraku Japanese Ramen & Grill

“Great late night spot for authentic delicious Japanese food that isn't just sushi. I got the tempura bowl that while delicious I would steer others to get the tempura entree instead. It's the same amount of food but the difference is the tempura was piled on the rice in the bowl so it was hard to dig down to the rice and since the tempura was stacked together it got soggy faster. While in the entree the tempura is to the side of the rice so it's a bit easier to eat. My friend got the Chicken Mixed Fries curry that he said was very flavorful and would get again. His only complaint was that the katsu meats were a bit over fried. The takoyaki was good and pretty typical. The prices on the menu already have tax included which was nice to see.”

“This place is a hidden gem. Efficient, friendly, and fantastic service. Our rolls came out within 5 minutes of ordering. They were flavorful, seasoned well, and plated with precision. This is a great place to come for a date, a friendly gathering or even to host out of town guests!”

”Wanted a quick snack before heading back home and we were hungry but not starving ! Found this spot in Santa Monica . The service was great . No where to really sit or stand inside . We ordered four different flavors . They ran out of the mushroom unfortunately, but we had two different tuna’s , the salmon and the eggplant . The tuna mayo was our favorite the rest weren’t bad !nice snack place Its decent for what it is and simple .”

”We have been coming here for years it’s probably the only place that has not changed in this shopping center… the location is kind of hidden but the food there is good and the servers are the BEST, they are so accommodating!!!!! You will see they have some combos and if I am in the mood for a different side instead of white rice with my favorite chicken Saltado they will put whatever I ask for. They can mix and match for me I love them so much! The saltado is my go to. I don’t really get sushi there but I see a lot of people getting it and they say it’s always fresh :) I do love the ceviche it’s a fusion ceviche not your normal ceviche… try it. 100 stars for their service! Look at the size of this fried beef cutlet it’s literally too big for the plate and hanging off and this is a normal dinner plate it’s HUGE!!!!! I asked for a side of fried rice with it this will last me 3 meals I have an air frier so I can refry and make it crisp again at home. This is really good with any of their spicy sauces but I am weird I like it with soy sauce. Lol”

”The food is very good, and about what you’d expect for the price, but it’s hard to get a good selection if you’re eating solo. As a couple or small group you’d have more choice without breaking the bank. Service on arrival made me think I should’ve reserved, before I was taken into an empty restaurant on a Sunday night. Unnecessarily stand-offish. I had a seat at the kitchen which added to some of the atmosphere but tempered by the cold welcome.”

”I hadn't been here in many years but it was just as good as I remember it. I sent on a random weeknight and the place was full of college students, obviously, since it's so close to USC. They have a cool reverse happy hour with decently prices items. I ordered a number of their vegan options that were clearly marked and everything was delicious. The servers and staff were very friendly and attentive. I won't wait as long for my next return visit.”

”Hands down the best poke place in the South Bay. There’s limited parking but there’s street parking if the lot is full. Base price comes with one sauce and three toppings, but King Poke proves more is not always better. Ingredients are always fresh and consistent. Don’t forget to bring your stamp card because you’ll probably be back.”

”I was expecting a good dinner but I got a way better experience. The food was great, the attention from the staff was awesome, the atmosphere was phenomenal. I even discovered new tastes that I'm going to try to reproduce by myself. I wish they had a restaurant in other states, especially where I live. I would definitely bring some friends to the place. Since they don't have I will bring them to LA to experience the same feeling I had when I visited this place.”

”I haven’t even finished my meal yet and I’ve had incredible service from the greeter who got me a seat at the sushi bar immediately and brought me a water. Then the girl who got me my sake and beer was sweet and cracked me up. The manager on duty was amazing, my sushi chef got my food on time. They even poured my sake since I was by myself! Cleared my edamame bowl. Just over all a cool place and not expensive”

”What an absolute treasure of a restaurant in Little Tokyo! The food is beautifully presented. It's light but filling so you leave satisfied :) it reminded me exactly of the traditional breakfasts I had in Tokyo. I came for the Japanese dinner set and loved the meal and service so much I went back the following day for brunch. I hope to visit again the next time I'm in LA!”

”Spent the evening of Christmas Day trying the Holiday Tasting Menu at this intimate restaurant. Highlights included the Kabocha Pumpkin Croquettes, Dynamite Rolls, and the A Taste of Gion, Kyoto dessert. The chefs did a wonderful job incorporating seasonal flavors and spices throughout the menu without it being overwhelming. The drinks were unique and delicious. Attentive service, fantastic pacing. Would definitely return!”
