“I had very high expectations for this Long Beach Italian restaurant, based on reviews I've read and on the fact that the owners are from Rome, the city where I was born and raised. I mean, it's a good restaurant and the food is good, but if I compared it to any good restaurant in Rome, it would totally lose. We had suppli' (fried rice balls with a ragù sauce and mozzarella) as an antipasto, which is a staple of Roman street food, and that was the first disappointment. Like I said, I don't mean to say the food was bad, but it was on the bland side, when compared to what you can eat in any Roman "rosticceria" or restaurant. I can say the same about the Amatriciana pasta. The pasta itself was very good and well-cooked, but the sauce was nowhere near as savory as what you'd typically get in Rome. I suspect one of the reasons is that real guanciale and 100% pecorino cheese (what the original recipe calls for) make this dish a tad too pungent for people who aren't used to this flavor. The pizza was much better and pretty much on a par with an average pizza in Rome. But not with the best pizzerias in the city. Finally, the panna cotta dessert was OK, but nothing special. Consider that this isn't a cheap restaurant, and my reviews are always based on value for the money.”

“The hubby and I were hungry for Italian and were in the area of Gaetano’s. There was a wait for others but the bar had some seats open and also has a full menu so we sat there. Our waitress/bar tender was Stephanie, such a welcoming gal and enjoyed her company. The bread and olive oil seasoning they bring you was amazing, I ordered the lasagna and wow it was a huge serving, my husband ordered the chicken parmigiana. We loved the environment and food. Would definitely check this restaurant out again. Give it a try You won’t be disappointed 😉”

“Went on a date to celebrate getting a new job. We had the oxtail dumplings, ricotta gnocchi, eggplant, fried cauliflower, the venison loin, and the toffee pudding. The experience as a whole was fantastic. It truly felt like an artistic experience as much as a culinary one. The food was delicious and the menu is so carefully crafted for fall. The staff is top tier and are professionals without question. Definitely a life-enhancing experience and I will be back!”

“Gale's was delicious. The bread they brought out was so warm and tasty! The caprese salad was also great! I wish I ordered some to go. My family had pizza, which they said it was so good that they would go back. They are picky about pizza. My pasta was the only thing that was just ok. It needed a little more seasoning. Other than that, I recommend trying it out if you're in the Pasadena area. We were visiting from out of town. I would like to give our server Raul, 5 stars across the board!! He was the best!”

“This place is so good that I wanna slap someone every time I take a bite of food. They bring you some bread drizzled in some pesto when you site down. Delicious! I can’t believe it’s complementary. We ordered the lobster linguini, spaghetti carbonara, spaghetti w/ tomato basil and garlic along with a couple pizzas. All soooooo good that I was ready to slap something. Tastebuds were overloading with the feel goods. I’ve been to other osterias all over Los Angeles and this is easily my favorite out of all of them. I read somewhere that the owner brought the pizza oven over from Italy. I’m sure it adds to the flavor of the food. This is a cash only establishment but there is an ATM on site.”

“This is a review for the dinner menu. This place is a hidden gem. The only reason we knew about it, is because I love Antonia Lofaso from Food Network! My recommendation would be to just order a bunch of different small shareable plates so you can sample the variety of things. They are all SO good. I would do this instead of focusing on the “mains.” It is quite dark and dim inside, but that is the cozy and intimate vibe.”

“A wonderful evening! All the food was excellent, service was also the best we have had in the last three years! Seemed like just minutes between our Calamari appetizer order and when it arrived at our table! My duck was super tender and wonderfully paired with the Roman gnocchi with wine reduction. My wife's pork chop was also excellent but the size was more suited to a super hungry dock worker! My friends also enjoyed their Meals as well, the Seafood linguini excellent and loaded with Salmon and large Shrimp. And the price was very reasonable as well. “I'm a old customer, been eating at this place for years, I can't recall how many years but the pizza here is incredibly delicious. I would've gave this place 5 stars but at my most recent visit, I started to notice that the pizzas were smaller and for the beef pizza with pepperoni, the beef changed from small pieces but more portions of it to marble shaped sizes but smaller portions. Now, they arent serving more of the toppings as before, which disappointed me and my family. I also got a Hawaiian pizza and also had fewer toppings. The pizza cutting skills arent the best but overall everything else is going fine. I'm waiting to see more toppings, but not the downfall of this business. (No pictures included, already ate the pizza) Update: The beef situation is solved, it's back to normal! I seen the prices have gotten higher over the years but its probably because of inflation. And, we should understand that the ingredients cost them aswell. The pizza is still delicious.”

“I enjoyed their pizza! The tomato sauce used taste so organic, let me explain, the sauce feels home made to where you sometimes get little tomato pieces with herb. That was so satisfying, less salty than your traditional marinara sauce. The pepperoni taste average, and the jalapeños did taste as though they were out of a can. The dough and sauce were what sold me. Now the garlic bread, I do wish it had more garlic sauce. Preferably drenched. The amount was somewhat low, and the added cheese was not it for me. Although I did not disapprove,(I eat everything by the way. It has to be completely nasty for me not to eat it). 😄 Had I known, I would've asked for no cheese. You also do not get a side of sauce with it. Sucks... There ranch taste similar to KENS brand. The Buffalo sauce taste close to a mixture of BBQ and Frankz. Not a bad combination, but not what I asked for. Overall, was pretty good and wouldn't mind eating here again.”
