“Great place to visit. Took my children and when we got in we had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Duane Earle. He was very warm welcoming and inviting. He also asked us was it our first time we told him yes he thanked us personally for coming in and he began to thoroughly go thru the menu explaining how everything was and the various selections that came along with it. We ordered a turkey burger, salmon burger, 2 fries, a pastrami burger and a all beef dog with the famous playa's punch. Money well spent and not only was the food fresh it was seasoned well to perfection and filling. We most definitely will be back.”

“YES! This place is legendary. I had a chance to talk to the owners' nephew/son a bit around lunchtime. Really nice guy, and from a great family. I believe he said they're going to celebrate some 40+ years being open. Cheers to another 40 for sure. This is a family-owned and operated spot. Everyone in the place is friendly with a smile. The Food: Magnificent! You can definitely taste the quality of their meat and cheeses. Also, the care they put into the bread is just beyond belief. It's chewy, it's soft, and it has a nice outer texture. I recommend getting your sandwich toasted for sure to bring out more of the flavors in the cheese and meats. Today I got the turkey and cheese, with all the toppings. Fantastic! You can really tell that the turkey is fresh, has a true old school Deli texture to it, and is definitely A Cut Above any of the other local spots in the area. Honestly, for the amount of meat and cheese they put on their sandwich, they really do put the other places in the area to shame. Especially for the price! Where else can you get a 13 inch classic sub for 13 bucks? All the other delis in the area charge upwards of $16 for something that doesn't even compare to Dan's. 2 pickle wedges on a Large sandwich. Who else does that? Dan's aims to please. Parking: can be tricky around lunch time. They're lot on the side of the building holds maybe four or five cars. It's a little bit tricky backing out. You might be better off parking on the street at one of the meters. Call in your order ahead of time, even better! Atmosphere: If you do decide to sit inside, it's very retro, black and white Checker tables, small little place with a elevated counter to sit at as well closer to the street. But it's definitely a small, packed space. There are a few tables and chairs outside as well. Simplicity is best, and less is more. You'll have to try this place out for yourself and see how wonderful it truly is. A local gem for sure! In short, when it comes to sandwich places in the West San Fernando valley, this place is number one!”

“Excellent excellent food! The portion sizes are quite generous according to the price. I have paid more $$$ for a lobster roll that had half the portion size in comparison to Lobster &Beer! We tried one of each lobster roll, & I am showing photos of both. The roll/bread is so addicting!!!! so fresh and soft it tastes like it was popped out of the oven within the last hour. I always find myself wanting another the next day! The made from scratch clam chowder is also delicious. The lobster quesadilla is also stellar.! it was gobbled up before I could document it with a photo! 😂🤣 Shawn took our order over the phone & they didn’t miss a beat. This is one of our new go to restaurants that I will be putting on the roster. Edit: The food is still always consistent with lots of lobster! A new favorite is the grilled cheese w/lobster that also comes with a creamy tomato soup “dip”. Amazingly delicious! The clobster roll is mixed crab & lobster, also yummy. The shrimp roll is stuffed full with shrimp. I have included pics of each.”

“How lucky we were to find ourselves in Santa Monica on a Sunday (pizza night in our world!) We walked over from the pier for dinner at Stella Barra, checked in, and were seated quickly (although we later got a notice from Open Table about not showing up for our reservation which is always humiliating, especially when it's not true. :/) It's a comfortable space with really delicious Neapolitan-style pizza options. I had a glass of the Chianti D.O.C.G. wine to start (when in Rome...) which helped from the experience nicely. And for my pizza, I ordered the Spicy Giardinera & Olive Pizza. This was a little out of the box for me as at a new-to-me pizza place I typically order a margarita or basic cheese pie to get a baseline of what they can do. I'm glad I ventured out as this was super tasty with a perfect crust. Saved a couple slices for lunch the next day and felt like a millionaire. My wife had the Shaved Mushroom Pizza on Gluten Free Crust. Also really tasty and with just about the best gluten-free crust we've had. Most places have a token, probably frozen standard gluten-free crust that is used so they can cover their bases. This one is made in-house, and although not quite the same as their regular crust, was crispy, chewy and a really thoughtful offering for gluten-free folk. Our kid had buttered pasta and fries (dinner of champions.) The fries were super guided and we helped ourselves to our share of them. We'd order from her a lot of we lived in Santa Monica. Really really well done Neapolitan pizzas.”

“I wanted to try out this restaurant because I saw them on Worth it! I never had roast beef before so I wanted to check it out for myself. It does have a small parking lot but I took transportation, you can take the Metro 28 from DTLA. Customer service is excellent and nicely took my order. I had the roast beef with cheese and it was delicious. It was juicy and sweet and of course the curly fries were hot and had that crunchiness. I'll definitely come back to try other food items.”

“Got a Pizza with pastrami, bacon and pepperoni, it was absolutely amazing, it smacked harder than Will Smith. It was heaven on earth but that can’t be said about the garlic bread, it came wrapped in tin foil and was just soggy bread, oil, a bit of garlic and everything bagel seasoning. The pizza gets a 9/10 and I really wanted to give the garlic bread a higher rating but it was just not it so it’s a 3/10. Overall 8/10 Must try!”

“It had been a very long time since I was last hear. I practically grew up on this pizza. It was my family's favorite. I'm glad it's still around. What I have noticed the prices are really getting up there. My wife and I have been going to the Ocean location and got to visit the San Pedro store last month. We always order and share a personal pepperoni pizza and a 12 inch sandwich. We've had issues at both previous places where the sandwich bread is rock hard. It's like 2-3 day old bread. The sandwich and pizza here were great. I wish they would of had on Thursday night football. But televisions were off. Will definitely return to this location.”

“First of all, it's open on a Monday which is a little unusual for your average fine dining establishment. Five stars for being open on Mondays. I also liked the 'inside a craftsman" aspect, since my date had recently reminisced about a similarly designed place in San Diego that we went to years ago. Another nice part is the liquor license and fully stocked bar, plenty of la spots are beet and wine only. The food choices were great, very hearty. The chicken liver app was a stand out and the mains (pork chop, fish and chips, shrimp and grits) were warmly received. The shrimp and grits were a little too "spicy" but I use the term in quotes because of the sensitivity of the palate of the diner.”
