“Great place to visit. Took my children and when we got in we had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Duane Earle. He was very warm welcoming and inviting. He also asked us was it our first time we told him yes he thanked us personally for coming in and he began to thoroughly go thru the menu explaining how everything was and the various selections that came along with it. We ordered a turkey burger, salmon burger, 2 fries, a pastrami burger and a all beef dog with the famous playa's punch. Money well spent and not only was the food fresh it was seasoned well to perfection and filling. We most definitely will be back.”

“YES! This place is legendary. I had a chance to talk to the owners' nephew/son a bit around lunchtime. Really nice guy, and from a great family. I believe he said they're going to celebrate some 40+ years being open. Cheers to another 40 for sure. This is a family-owned and operated spot. Everyone in the place is friendly with a smile. The Food: Magnificent! You can definitely taste the quality of their meat and cheeses. Also, the care they put into the bread is just beyond belief. It's chewy, it's soft, and it has a nice outer texture. I recommend getting your sandwich toasted for sure to bring out more of the flavors in the cheese and meats. Today I got the turkey and cheese, with all the toppings. Fantastic! You can really tell that the turkey is fresh, has a true old school Deli texture to it, and is definitely A Cut Above any of the other local spots in the area. Honestly, for the amount of meat and cheese they put on their sandwich, they really do put the other places in the area to shame. Especially for the price! Where else can you get a 13 inch classic sub for 13 bucks? All the other delis in the area charge upwards of $16 for something that doesn't even compare to Dan's. 2 pickle wedges on a Large sandwich. Who else does that? Dan's aims to please. Parking: can be tricky around lunch time. They're lot on the side of the building holds maybe four or five cars. It's a little bit tricky backing out. You might be better off parking on the street at one of the meters. Call in your order ahead of time, even better! Atmosphere: If you do decide to sit inside, it's very retro, black and white Checker tables, small little place with a elevated counter to sit at as well closer to the street. But it's definitely a small, packed space. There are a few tables and chairs outside as well. Simplicity is best, and less is more. You'll have to try this place out for yourself and see how wonderful it truly is. A local gem for sure! In short, when it comes to sandwich places in the West San Fernando valley, this place is number one!”

I decided to eat the Steak Frites au Poivre which is a classic French dish that typically consists of steak that is pan-seared and served with a peppercorn sauce, and fries. The steak is typically cooked to the desired level of doneness and I chose medium well in order to balance both tenderness and flavor and I must say, it was an incredibly delicious experience. The steak itself had a rich and complex flavor, with a perfect balance of tenderness and juiciness. The peppercorn sauce added a bold and savory taste that complemented the steak perfectly. The fries were also amazing, they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside,they balanced the richness of the steak. The dish was presented beautifully, and it was clear that a lot of care and attention had gone into its preparation. I highly recommend giving it a try if you ever have the opportunity, it’s sure to be a culinary delight. In addition to the delicious meal, I also had the pleasure of trying one of the restaurant's desserts, a chocolate mousse. I must say, it was truly a decadent experience. The mousse had a rich and velvety texture, with a strong milk chocolate flavor that was both intense and indulgent. The mousse was whipped and it was so silky that it was almost like cream, it was incredibly delicious and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable dining experience. It was the perfect end to a perfect meal, and it left a lasting impression on me.”

Aruffo’s make birthday extra celebratory for the birthday guests by serving their dessert with a sparking birthday candle. They recently opened an outdoor patio sitting area where it is decorated with a cozy fireplace, a waterfall fixture and Christmas tree lighting neatly spread throughout the invisible ceiling and directly above the newly added tables and seats. The whole experience in dining in such a warm, cozy and alluring atmosphere is both dreamy and magical. You have got to come here to experience all these in person. “How lucky we were to find ourselves in Santa Monica on a Sunday (pizza night in our world!) We walked over from the pier for dinner at Stella Barra, checked in, and were seated quickly (although we later got a notice from Open Table about not showing up for our reservation which is always humiliating, especially when it's not true. :/) It's a comfortable space with really delicious Neapolitan-style pizza options. I had a glass of the Chianti D.O.C.G. wine to start (when in Rome...) which helped from the experience nicely. And for my pizza, I ordered the Spicy Giardinera & Olive Pizza. This was a little out of the box for me as at a new-to-me pizza place I typically order a margarita or basic cheese pie to get a baseline of what they can do. I'm glad I ventured out as this was super tasty with a perfect crust. Saved a couple slices for lunch the next day and felt like a millionaire. My wife had the Shaved Mushroom Pizza on Gluten Free Crust. Also really tasty and with just about the best gluten-free crust we've had. Most places have a token, probably frozen standard gluten-free crust that is used so they can cover their bases. This one is made in-house, and although not quite the same as their regular crust, was crispy, chewy and a really thoughtful offering for gluten-free folk. Our kid had buttered pasta and fries (dinner of champions.) The fries were super guided and we helped ourselves to our share of them. We'd order from her a lot of we lived in Santa Monica. Really really well done Neapolitan pizzas.”
