“Great hotel if you’re traveling on a budget. Close to the beach, great views, very walkable, comfortable beds, very clean. However, it would be great if the laundry had a coin machine to get quarters for washing clothes. The front desk didn’t have coins to exchange and it would’ve been nice to get some for laundry. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back!”

“Another great stay at a home2 suites. Stayed 6 nights with a guest and while the hot breakfast was limited there was an enormous amount of fresh muffins, bagels, cereal, yogurt and add ons. The staff still makes up the rooms daily and the front desk was very helpful in solving an initial problem (we caused). If the prices stay comparable once the Top Golf and Golf Course opens, we would stay here again. Note... The location gave us many paths to avoid the inhumane LA traffic.”

“I usually don’t write reviews, however this establishment deserves one. We arrived early during an unexpected heat wave. 1:30p, regular check in is 4pm. they did an amazing job at getting a room prepped quickly for us. All parking is valet, so we never had to worry about if parking would be available or not. The staff are all incredibly friendly. The continental breakfast is good. We were there for 4 mornings and the breakfast switches a little each day to give a good variety of items. My kids loved the sausage, bacon and the different waffles batters. Loved having different juice options. Room was very clean, never had a hard time getting extra clean towels. Pool was heated and open until 10p every night which was perfect to night swim after the sun went down. Bed was a little harder than I like, but all in all it was a great experience and I would definitely stay here again.”

“One of the worst service that I’ve ever seen at an IHG hotel in the US. We checked in about 11pm because of our late incoming flight. The front desk clerk Kimberly doesn’t even acknowledged that I am a loyal member of the IHG family. We checked in for two nights. To our surprise when we returned to our room on the second day, our Room is not cleaned and no fresh towels were available in the room. Ms. Kimberly didn’t even bother to mention about cleaning at requested only. She didn’t even bother to say “thank you” for being IHG member. She didn’t offer me points or water options at check in… She keeps telling me about her long day and being tired to work when I asked about the water. At last, the hotel management team didn’t bother to send me a survey about the hotel and it’s situation. A solution about the cost down with the reduction of cleaning the rooms is a terrible trade off for losing their loyalty members. I will longer choose this IHG hotel in El Monte when I am in town next time.”

“I stay here regularly because the location is great. The breakfast is about as lazy as it gets, even for Hampton Inn's. They don't bother to slice the bagels - wouldn't be a problem except that only leaves you with the cheap plastic "knives" to try and butcher it in half before toasting. They don't take the shell of the hard-boiled eggs - which is a lot easier to do right after the prep process. The sausage links looked like they'd been left in the oven.”

“Beautiful very new hotel in excellent condition with great service. Good buffet breakfast with eggs, hash browns, meats, fruit, breads, waffles, juices and coffee. Room was perfect except minor neighbor noise from ceiling and through headboard wall — common even in the newest of California hotels. You may adjust the fan or bring earplugs if you’re sensitive. High ceilings everywhere—lovely. My car was parked across the street and just fine though the hotel parking seems møre secure.”

“This hotel is adorable! I came here with two friends for a girls trip and it was perfect for it. The location is awesome, we were able to walk to many places and we felt safe the whole time. The decor in the rooms is very cute. We stayed in a room with a king bed and pull out couch, it fit the three of us well. The bathroom design is super cute but the door is a sliding barn door which is not ideal for bathroom privacy. The rooftop pool is VERY SMALL and there isn’t a ton of seating around the pool, especially if it is busy. We only went up to the pool once and there were two small families in the pool and no room for anyone else. Not a huge deal for us because we didn’t really intend to swim. When we went in June 2023 they only had one elevator working and we always had to wait a while for it. We often had to wait for the valet too and it seemed like they didn’t have a very large staff but every employee we interacted with was very nice. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely stay there again!”

“Very basic hotel convenient to the airport. It was clean and the staff was friendly. We stayed on December 30 and this seemed to be a holiday which meant that the restaurant was out of certain items and the cafe closed early. We keep trying different options at LAX and this one was acceptable but quite average although the breakfast was poor and poorly staffed. On the plus side, it is quiet and we had a good night’s sleep.”

“Off beaten path a bit. Somewhat dated. Mattress needed a turning in my room. Price hard to beat. Breakfast is typical for limited service and the breakfast area is spacious and has lots of natural light. Gym is small and sorta functional for basic workout. Staff is very friendly.”

“I entered the lobby and observed one of the Hotel staff (Henry) being completely berated by a hotel guest. He remained extremely calm under the circumstances, and continued to provide excellent customer service with a smile. I felt terrible for him. Aside from this, the room I had was nice, clean, comfortable, and served its purpose. The sitting area outside is beautiful and has a nice view of the beach. I didn't visit the pool area, so I can't give an accurate opinion on that. If I HAD to gripe about something, it would probably be that most places I've stayed at have at least one bottle of complimentary water in the room, alas, this one does not. I need water to take my medications at night and it would have been nice to have that. Otherwise, my stay here was ideal. Henry alone deserves 5/5 stars.”

“I had a wonderful experience at this hotel! We wanted a better view so they quickly switched us to a different room and it was beautiful. The hotel was clean and the staff were so nice and accommodating. Front desk workers were so sweet. Also super close to vons and anything else really. The room is tighter (we got a one queen bed room) but was still very comfortable. Loved it there and will be staying again!”

“We stayed in room 243 and had the best time at this hotel, in fact - I'd say this is one of the best experiences I've ever had. The hotel is very clean and well taken care of. Our room was in great shape and the window even opens slightly letting fresh air in which was great. We had a small issue but the manager Erik was very accommodating and helpful and even remembered us and followed up with us in the main lobby. The breakfast was fantastic, and Rene in the dining room took great care of us - try the french toast, it's amazing! When staying in the San Fernando Valley/Thousand Oaks area again this will be the only place we book.”

“As a dedicated traveler who frequently chooses IHG Kimpton for my accommodations worldwide, I've accumulated more than 20 nights with Kimpton. Unfortunately, my recent stay has been the most disappointing. 1. The room and bedding were not up to standard; pervasive dust triggered my serious dust allergy, necessitating daily medication. 2. Despite assurances that our laundry, dropped off at 9:30 am for same-day delivery, faced delays. The staff visited twice to fetch it, and by day's end, they claimed there was nothing they could do, resulting in our clothing being sent back. 3. Throughout the day, staff replaced water and drinks in our room but neglected other cleaning. They approached us at 9 pm about room cleaning, posing a challenge with a sleeping child. 4. We were charged for items we never used. 5. Room service for breakfast, ordered for 8 am, arrived at 9:20 due to delays in preparation, disrupting our entire day's travel schedule. Will not stay here again.”

“Find another hotel. The property itself is fine, rooms are typical for Courtyard properties and clean, and there is valet parking. BUT. The location. Across from train station, large number of homeless or just people loitering on sidewalks. It is a four block or so walk to the Santa Monica Pier, but through a maze of people sleeping on the sidewalk, asking for money, yelling, or just loitering in groups. A man wandering up and down the sidewalk on the walk to the Pier was calling random pedestrians “terrorists”. I was on a business Zoom call at 7am when a protest parade with drums and whistles appeared below my window. At 3am there was very loud music/bass outside the hotel for at least 30 minutes. The agent at the front desk responded “not late at night” when the guest in front me checking in asked, “is the area safe”. I understand these are external factors, outside of Marriott's control, but guests considering this property should be aware. I won’t be staying here again.”
