“What an absolute treasure of a restaurant in Little Tokyo! The food is beautifully presented. It's light but filling so you leave satisfied :) it reminded me exactly of the traditional breakfasts I had in Tokyo. I came for the Japanese dinner set and loved the meal and service so much I went back the following day for brunch. I hope to visit again the next time I'm in LA!”

“Food is legit. Nice flavors. Happy Hour is 5pm to 633pm and has wonderful deals. $5 Sapporo drafts and tasty tempura dishes. Nicely decorated space. Parking on street can be tricky. Worth a visit.”

“Spent the evening of Christmas Day trying the Holiday Tasting Menu at this intimate restaurant. Highlights included the Kabocha Pumpkin Croquettes, Dynamite Rolls, and the A Taste of Gion, Kyoto dessert. The chefs did a wonderful job incorporating seasonal flavors and spices throughout the menu without it being overwhelming. The drinks were unique and delicious. Attentive service, fantastic pacing. Would definitely return!”

“I hadn't been here in many years but it was just as good as I remember it. I sent on a random weeknight and the place was full of college students, obviously, since it's so close to USC. They have a cool reverse happy hour with decently prices items. I ordered a number of their vegan options that were clearly marked and everything was delicious. The servers and staff were very friendly and attentive. I won't wait as long for my next return visit.”

“All-you-can-eat sushi in K-town! We came to Sushi Ippo for their all-you-can-eat lunch option. While their quality is better than most all-you-can-eat sushi joints, unfortunately it’s still not as good as it seems. The fish is very mediocre in quality (only exception being the albacore), and though the presentation and theatrics were great, the sushi itself didn’t live up to my standards. If you’re looking for loads of sushi without regard to quality taste and ingredients, this might be your stop, but if quality sushi is what you’re looking for, I’d look elsewhere in LA 🍣”

“READ BEFORE YOU EAT HERE! I have no idea why I came back here, I actually walked out years ago due to gnats being all over the restaurant. We decided to give it another try yesterday and I really regret it (only came bcuz a family member chose this place and they regretted it too)! This place is ridiculously OVERPRICED...for my Husband and I on a Tuesday night it was $91. They add a 20% charge for service plus it's an extra almost $3 each for a drink. I HIGHLY recommend BEFORE paying, ask to take a look at the BUFFET bar...we made the mistake and didn't look first and then realized how bad it was after we were seated and given drinks. We warned other family when they got there and they just sat and visited and didn't eat. The BUFFET options are horrible!!! The food is disgusting. Piles of Chunky unclean looking food. The only option that could be trusted is the bar where they cook in front of you. Since I already paid I decided to go with that option and basically had noodles and veggies. This place is gross. I WITNESSED one of the workers using his BARE hands to grab sushi rolls and trying to discreetly SHOVE them in his mouth. Many workers working without gloves even though the sign says they MUST wear gloves. The dessert section is gross, and cakes look soggy and old. Oreos were all soggy and soft! The chocolate fountain had a disgusting film on top. I will never come here again and I felt disgusted just sitting there. 3 PEOPLE out of our party of 6 decided not to eat after seeing the buffet. SAVE YOUR MONEY. We actually were so bummed that we didn't think of going to GEN down the street as it's also all you can eat and better quality and CHEAPER!”

“I love the sushi here at Katsu-ya Northridge it had a lot of flavor and was delicious. I got the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy albacore. I will definitely be coming back for more and it is close to cafe 86 where I get one of my favorite milkshakes. I 100 % recommend this place if you are the Northridge area.”

“10/10 ppl!!! I had an awesome experience eating here with my brother and cuzen. All of us were impressed. From the food and customer service. I'm so happy to have stumbled across this place ❤️ Quality fresh ingredients from the fish to Wasabi. I would recommend everything on the menu that is sushi and sashimi. Pluss the house Sake for a bomb or two 😉”

Kouraku Japanese Ramen & Grill

“Great late night spot for authentic delicious Japanese food that isn't just sushi. I got the tempura bowl that while delicious I would steer others to get the tempura entree instead. It's the same amount of food but the difference is the tempura was piled on the rice in the bowl so it was hard to dig down to the rice and since the tempura was stacked together it got soggy faster. While in the entree the tempura is to the side of the rice so it's a bit easier to eat. My friend got the Chicken Mixed Fries curry that he said was very flavorful and would get again. His only complaint was that the katsu meats were a bit over fried. The takoyaki was good and pretty typical. The prices on the menu already have tax included which was nice to see.”

“Decorations here are amazing!!! Vibrant and unique and beautiful! Parking can be found on the street if you want to avoid valet. There is outside seating but they only open the big patio on Fridays and Saturdays. We came on a Sunday and I honestly have to deduct a star because the music was way too loud. It was good music but you literally can’t have a conversation in this restaurant unless you shout! The chips and salsa were really good! Every chair is decorated with a different pattern and with soft material, I loved it! I ordered from the brunch menu and got the Breakfast Burro and added Asada as protein. It was delicious!!!! It also came with a side and I chose waffles. Those were ok, a little dry and not very tasty. I definitely recommend the burrito!! The servers were all very nice and attentive. Appreciated their service.”

“I was extremely disappointed when the server told me there’s no salmon sashimi when that’s the only thing I was craving for. I simply do not understand why they cannot serve sashimi but the salmon sushi is still available. We switched it to toro sashimi but we got served with a minced almost a toro paste. I won’t doubt it if you tell me that’s ground pork. Please google the definition of sashimi. No matter how “fusion” you trying to be. Do not mix “tartare” with “sashimi”. No offense but this place is for those who don’t have sushi a lot. It’s not authentic at all. Not the kind of sushi I was hoping for but I wouldn’t say it’s bad. Afterall the price is relatively low. I’d be okay to have sushi with this quality as a bento box or takeout order at midnight when there’s no other choices. It feels like the kitchen just bought supermarket sushi and served it on plates. The hand rolls are slightly better. You might as well just go to KazuNori. At least Servers are friendly and professional. But I still won’t come back again. If you must try this place. Order the “don’t ask just eat” set. Those are serving slightly more premium fishes. Or lower your expectations.”

“We happened upon this place while exploring Santa Monica beach and being turned away from the neighboring Gyu Kaku (told that there would be a 2-hour wait for 6 people). We called the restaurant and asked if we could be seated sooner and were told to come right over. It was probably a 5 minute walk from the 3rd street promenade. We were instantly seated upon arrival in a cozy part of the restaurant. The server was very friendly and took great care of us. We ordered the uni box, but they said because uni is so difficult to get nowadays, they substitute it with tuna. Okay fine, but maybe you need to revamp your menu because you should not serve a dish that literally says uni in it and not serve uni with it. That was my only dislike with this restaurant and why I am deducting 1 star from my review. The "uni" box dish was still very good nonetheless. We also got the fatty tuna roll and a couple of skewers (steak and pork). The food here is excellent and the fish tastes really fresh, as it should being they are 3 blocks away from the ocean. The price is on the higher end for me though, but to be expected because of their location.”

“We finally stopped in to try this Japanese restaurant! This is an Izakaya restaurant. Their menu has a variety of options, snacks,(sozai), Japanese Salads, sashimi, along with hot dishes, dishes and delicious desserts! We started with the Kabocha Salad, Japanese pumpkin. The pumpkin arrived in a generous scoop, mousse texture with crackers and lettuce. It was a bit bland but I enjoyed it. $6.80 Our favorite dish was the Kara Age!! It arrived piping hot! We asked for ponzu sauce to dip, although the chicken was tasty in its own. $14.60 Next came the Brown Rice Scallop Risotto made with a lobster broth. This arrived in sizzling, (see video). The scallops were a bit chewy. It was very rich but tasty. $18 We also shared the Buckwheat Chicken Noodle Soup which was tasty but slightly bland, however it was beautifully presented. $15.60 Finally dessert! We shared the tiramisu $10, and creme Brule $12. Both desserts were really very good! The interior space was nice and contemporary and sleek. The bathrooms were clean, single rooms, one for women and the other, for men. The Japanese staff were all attentive and kind! Metered parking on Wilshire or the side streets.”

“For mains, we ordered a chicken katsu, sweet potato hamburg, curry udon, and 2 cook your own gyukatsu plates. The portions are fairly large and enough to fill your stomach. The chicken katsu took a long time to come; everyone else was nearly done eating already. Of the 2 gyukatsu, one had no marbling while the other had some, and this is very disappointing for gyukatsu. The pieces are also cut a bit too thin, which makes them flimsy when grilling on the hot stone. We also ordered a plate of wings, which were over cooked and the pieces are very skinny. Their service was a mixed bag and their team feels very uncoordinated. As I said, one of our mains came very late and they also didn’t seem too knowledgeable about the drinks they served. But also, the owner came and gave us a free bottle of soju as newcomers and a slice of cheesecake for my birthday, so that is very kind. At the very least, they are working hard and trying their best.”

“We have been coming here for years it’s probably the only place that has not changed in this shopping center… the location is kind of hidden but the food there is good and the servers are the BEST, they are so accommodating!!!!! You will see they have some combos and if I am in the mood for a different side instead of white rice with my favorite chicken Saltado they will put whatever I ask for. They can mix and match for me I love them so much! The saltado is my go to. I don’t really get sushi there but I see a lot of people getting it and they say it’s always fresh :) I do love the ceviche it’s a fusion ceviche not your normal ceviche… try it. 100 stars for their service! Look at the size of this fried beef cutlet it’s literally too big for the plate and hanging off and this is a normal dinner plate it’s HUGE!!!!! I asked for a side of fried rice with it this will last me 3 meals I have an air frier so I can refry and make it crisp again at home. This is really good with any of their spicy sauces but I am weird I like it with soy sauce. Lol”

“Paid cash left the store after a short wait drove home 15 minutes and got a call they packed my order incorrectly at 8 pm on a Saturday night. Ate what was correct out of my order and had to drive all the way back to pick up my money. They took no responsibility in packing my order couldn’t even send someone 15 minutes to bring the proper items or my cash refund to me when I had already been at the store and spent $115 on a few rolls. The food is decent for a local sushi spot but the overall service and how they handle business is horrible.”

“I was expecting a good dinner but I got a way better experience. The food was great, the attention from the staff was awesome, the atmosphere was phenomenal. I even discovered new tastes that I'm going to try to reproduce by myself. I wish they had a restaurant in other states, especially where I live. I would definitely bring some friends to the place. Since they don't have I will bring them to LA to experience the same feeling I had when I visited this place.”
