“For a place out in the middle of the desert, it was probably better than expected. It is fairly barren, but each site came with one sad tree, power and water. Aside from a too narrow entry driveway, access was good and rig parking was easy. They do have a small lake/pond adjacent to the campground that might be nice to sit alongside. It was a stopover spot with close access to Joshia Tree NP, and served that role well for what they charged.”

“The most incredible views of any campground I’ve ever been to. Every single site has a view of the ocean. We stayed at site 7 which was a bit small, really only room for one tent and no shade. But we did have privacy from our neighbors. Everyone respected the quiet hours which was absolutely amazing. I wish the campground made a shortcut trail to the bathroom because taking the road is rather long from our site. It’s a vault toilet, no sink, it’s kept fairly clean and always stocked. We took the extremely overgrown trail (starts next to site 9) to the beach. It was worth the effort but definitely cover your extremities. I hope they clean it up at some point. The camp host was a very nice man. They sell bundles of wood for $15, but we grabbed ours in Cambria for half the price (the camp host didn’t stay overnight but was available 9-6). Raccoons run wild at night and want your food so beware. One tried to open our cooler. Keep food in your car and take out your trash to the available cans. We only stayed two nights but I wish we had more time because it was so incredible. The sunset, stargazing, the hikes, all of it was magnificent.”

”What a gem! Peaceful backwoods resort with multiple opens of lodging. 1 hour drive to Yosemite Valley/Tunnel View area. ”Loved this place! The balcony view is gorgeous. I felt like we were in a hallmark movie with the cute fishing town. We could hear the sea lions from our room! Our kids loved watching the boats make their way out of the cove all morning. We ended up asking if we could check out later because we had such a great time in this cute town and didn’t want to leave. The only downside was the water got cold fast while taking a shower but that still doesn’t change the 5 star review as we were so obsessed with this cute place and the view.”

”I remembered driving past here years ago, before the 210 was extended and it has stuck in my craw to want to come back and eat here ever since. We stopped in for lunch and were greeted right away by the super friendly hostess/waitress/bartender. We originally just stopped to look around and take some pictures, but between the super friendly greeting we received upon walking in, and my kids being in awe of the decor, as was I, we decided to stay and grab a bite. Everyone was super happy with what they ordered. I got the Monte Cristo, and it was AMAZING! The best one I've had in years. Good enough that I would even consider driving all the way up from Long Beach just to have another! Though we had a pleasant lunch experience, I really want to come back for dinner next time. I must sit in that room with the big round fireplace and I have to see that magical sign out front in it's full glory (it was off today). This place is a treasure and worth the drive from wherever you might live!”

”The staff was nice but the owner was not professional and would not communicate. This was our first trip to Idyllwild and we brought our family to stay at Rachel's Cottage. The house was perfect for our stay with large rooms, a beautiful kitchen and three separate bathrooms. On the negative side, the bathroom shower near the laundry room was unusable. We reported to the staff that the shower drain was backing up onto the floor. The staff was supposed to send someone over to fix it and no one ever came The counter microwave did not function properly. The oven in the stove didn't work. The front panel to turn it on and set the temperature was unresponsive. For the rates we were charged, we didn't expect to have these issues, but we dealt with them because we loved the area. The final insult, was that we were charged an extra $60 in our bill. We were told by the staff that we broke the coffee maker. WE DIDN'T EVEN USE THE COFFEE MAKER! I brought a large box of Keurig pods (that's all I use at home) and all we used was the Keurig machine. We explained this to the staff to which they replied that the owner would call us. THEY NEVER CALLED and we received a $60 charge on our credit card. This is unethical and unprofessional behavior. Beware when renting from Silver Pines!”

”Right across from Lake Alpine, this cozy lodge is perfectly situated for your trip to Lake Alpine or any of the hiking trails around there. Even if it is just for a quick getaway, it is a great place for lunch or an afternoon meal. The ambiance is very laid back and the decor is exactly what you would expect a mountain lodge to be. Staff was very friendly and attentive on this trip. Dogs are welcome and even have their own place for pictures called the "Dogs if Lake Alpine" very cute pics there. Great relaxing place. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did”

”I saw some mixed reviews of Big Sur Lodge but decided to book it anyway and I was very pleasantly surprised. The location can't be beat. There are multiple hiking trails from the property and several others close by. Our Queen room with refrigerator and fireplace was spacious, clean, and had enough kitchen utensils to cook at the cottage (#2). The walls are paper thin but that didn't deter from our visit. Moreover, the daily delivery of fire wood was much appreciated. We did have one meal at the restaurant which we enjoyed. Finally, we were able to get some wifi and receive text messages. I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Big Sur.”
