“We were so looking forward to a good seafood place. We were going for my boyfriend’s birthday and we just left wanting more. I do think the seafood was very fresh, but the flavors were not there. We could’ve gone to a good seafood market and cooked it at home. We go out to explore innovative, and things that are reach in our cooking level and all four of us just felt we wanted more. The tuna tacos were probably the best dish we had. Also the drinks were not that good. If you have mobility issues, make sure you asked to be put on the first floor. There was lots and lots of stairs in the room we were in was a little warm. We are still looking for a good seafood place doesn’t have to be fancy, but it Has to be tasty.”

We had a large party of 11 and they accommodated us well including a reservation. The restaurant is esthetically pleasing and clean. They currently serve "all you can eat" but it's a tad pricey. My meal with hot tea, tax and tip was $35.”

“We have been coming to Aka Sushi for over 10 years now, and do not have a single complaint! We have always been promptly greeted and seated, and never waited more than a minute or two for menus and drinks. The menus are varied, with lots of changing specials. Pictures and descriptions of special rolls are provided, choices can be marked on a paper menu and given to your server. Seafood is on display at the counter, and you may watch the chefs work. The presentation and quality of the sushi and rolls is awesome, staff is quick to deliver it and is very attentive to your needs. Definitely give Aka Sushi a try!”

”We came here on a Monday night around 5:30 and was seated immediately. However it did fill up relatively quickly. The sushi and servers were all great. For two people, we got 5 special rolls and took home 2 rolls. They are bigger than normal and it's good value for the size, so just keep that in mind. Very fresh, all of them tasted delicious. We recommend the Golden Dragon if you like mango and crab, and aren't too partial to other fish. Otherwise the Isobe roll or Crazy Horse are also good choices . The salmon nigiri that was light seared with fire on lemon was heavenly. They had free hot tea which the servers refilled often and cleaned up plates often. We'll definitely be back!”

”3.8⭐️ First time trying and I want to go back to dine in! We’ve driven past this place so many times and I’ve wanted to give it a try. Wasn’t in the mood to dine in today, so we ordered to go. I got a volcano roll, and shrimp tempura roll. My husband got a cucumber salad and a butterfly roll. It was all very good! The inside of the restaurant was cute (sorry my samurai pic is blurry) and I do love some hibachi, so I will have to go dine in at some point soon. The food was really good, highly recommend, but I’m not sure how their service is because we didn’t dine in, so that’s why I gave 3.8 stars. I’ll update when we do though!”

”Went for a late lunch a little after 1:00 on a weekday and it so crowded it was still reservations only so we had to sit at the bar. Got a pork belly meat skewer to start which was good, and some sushi rolls and a curry udon noodle with pork bowl. Both were decent, but the pork could have been a bit more tender. Server was great and overall the experience was good but given that it's pretty pricey I was kind of was hoping to be a little more "wowed" by the food.”

”My daughter and I are obsessed with CSush (as we lovingly dubbed it)! The vegetarian sushi is outstanding- we try to eat here as much as possible. The vegetable tempura roll is to die for. Our favorite server is so cool- she makes us feel like VIPs and we adore her! Absolutely THE BEST SUSHI IN RICHMOND. And the restaurant itself is beautiful! What more could you ask for?? A+++++”

”I feel a little bad giving them 2 stars because the service, the food, the environment and everything else was really good, but…….. only while we were still inside the restaurant. After exiting the restaurant, the waitress followed my family outside. She wanted to tell us that we did not tip enough. On this given night, my mother who was visiting us wanted to pay the bill, and my mother is not a big tipper. So I could understand where the waitress’ frustration was coming from. The waitress expected more tip from my mom…… and unfortunately my mom was not willing to tip more. My mom is an elderly lady with limited funds, and so I could understand her point of view, too. The waitress went on to explain that she expected 18%, and my mom put a little less than even 10%. I could see my mom’s reaction, and I understood right away that my mom was not in a position to tip more than that. At this point I interjected… I felt like the waitress was “demanding” that my mom voluntarily tip more than ~10%. I interjected by excusing ourselves from the whole conversation, and the waitress walked away saying, “next time, don’t pick us!” What a terrible experience…. I’ve been to Sakura before. I have tipped their staff well during my previous visits. In this particular visit, I learned that I will never return to Sakura. Tip is optional here. I know that the wait staff depend on tip to be able to earn a descent income, and that it is a large portion of their take home. I personally also used to work for tip at one point in my career, so I can complete empathize. But nothing changes the fact that tip is optional. You cannot “demand” for a tip. That’s against the rules of civilization.”

”Be prepared to spend a lot of money if it's your first time going. We wanted the full experience and went a little over board. Each plate is $3.50, and you lift it off a conveyor belt. Once you finish eating, slide your plate down the plate shute, and it gets added to your total. You can order other items off the menu, and it gets delivered to your table via a separate conveyor belt. The items add up quickly, so pay attention. Overall, the food was hot or cold as it was supposed to be, very fresh, and delicious. Just the experience itself is amazing, and there are other food choices in case you don't like sushi. The drink delivering robot is a hoot 🤣”
