The Grandin Theatre
4.8
( 8 reviews )

1310 Grandin Rd SW, Roanoke, VA 24015, United States

“This theater is SO so neat! Friendly people, and good popcorn. We saw our movie in one of the smaller rooms upstairs but the larger room was open and we peaked in there after our movie. WOW, what a room. Lots of history here, we really enjoyed it. I especially liked the bathroom floor (hence the photo). Highly recommend it.”

Amazement Square
4.7
( 16 reviews )

27 9th St, Lynchburg, VA 24504, United States

“We have a membership and haven't regretted it! Two things to watch for: they have limited hours and days during certain seasons and the paint booth in the basement also has limited hours (I believe only open after lunch). Check ahead so you don't promise your children you'll go... and then they are closed! Speaking from experience. It's a great place for a school or homeschool field trip. **Sorry for weird angles or not full views of things but I try to not get faces in the videos/pictures for privacy sake.”

Military Women's Memorial
4.8
( 8 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

Memorial Ave, Schley Dr, Arlington, VA 22202, United States

“I've visited the this memorial many times over the past 7 years that I have lived in the DC area, but this was the first time my husband had joined me for a visit. We took the metro to Arlington as that is the easiest way to visit both Arlington National Cemetery and the Militay Women's Memorial. Once through security at the cemetery main entrance, it is a short walk to the memorial building. Once inside we were warmly greeted by a couple ladies who asked if we had visited before and if we needed assistance finding anything. I am a member of the non-profit that assists with funding the memorial and registered woman military member; so I am very familiar with the building, but it was still nice to have someone point out exhibits that had changed since my last visit and welcome my husband to this beautiful space dedicated to women's service in the US military. I'm glad we came and we will comeback again soon. Thank you.”

Page Theater

( 8 reviews )

33 E Main St, Luray, VA 22835, United States

”A reasonably priced theater. The staff was friendly and made sure everyone was taken care of. It was nice to do a small theater that cared about the customers. The only complaint was the seats were a bit older without cup holders but this was not a big deal.”

Decades Arcade
4.9
( 8 reviews )

418 E Main St, Charlottesville, VA 22902, United States

”We hosted our son's 10th birthday party here this past weekend and it was AWESOME! The staff were incredibly accommodating and easy going. It's always chaotic getting party stuff sorted out but they were obviously used to it and made the whole process easy. Plus the cost was completely reasonable, kids parties can get crazy expensive now and I appreciated that Decades keeps it affordable. We already plan to go back for a date night and a family fun night in the near future!”

”I enjoyed the theater. It's very cool to be in downtown Culpeper, visit some of the shops, and see a movie. Staff was friendly at the counter. Seats were perfectly comfy, theater was clean. Audio was good, the screen was good. Too many trailers of course but I'm sure they have no say in that. Great little theater in a cool location.”

Workhouse Arts Center
4.6
( 16 reviews )

9518 Workhouse Wy, Lorton, VA 22079, United States

”As a history nerd, I geek out about places like Workhouse Arts Center. It's a former prison redeveloped into a community for the arts. Here's what you should know before visiting: 1) History: The arts center is part of the 3,2000-acre campus of an early 20th century prison called the D.C. Workhouse and Reformatory. At the time, it opened as a model for prison reform envisioned by President Teddy Roosevelt. Over the years, it become more of a working camp with the last prisoner exiting in 2001 before it closed for good. The campus is being redeveloped into many things, but the Workhouse Arts Center was one of the first to open in the old prison in 2008. 2) Space: It's definitely set up like the old prison with several Colonial Revival brick buildings flank a large green space. Each brick building houses art galleries and centers that offer classes from ceramics to glass blowing. There's also a small museum about the prison's history and plaques outside explaining the history. 3) Art: Several of the buildings have art on them, including several murals throughout the campus. It's fun to find them all, especially the older murals. 4) Events: On top of the art classes, the arts center hosts events throughout the year. For example, during Halloween, they host a haunted house experience. If you're into history and the arts, the Workhouse Arts Center is the perfect marriage!”

Francis Scott Key Memorial Bridge
4.4
( 8 reviews )

Washington, DC 20007, United States

”I always enjoy walking across this bridge. The sights of the city contrast starkly with the greenery surrounding the river bank. If the weather is good you can find a lot of boats and yatchs around too. The pedestrian shoulder is quite wide on either side and it is very safe to walk across. Good for a morning run or even a slow walk into DC.”

The Fralin Museum Of Art At The University Of Virginia
4.5
( 16 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

155 Rugby Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22904, United States

”The Fralin is a great free museum if you have a little bit of time to spend in Charlottesville and you're not sure what to do with it. The museum itself is fairly small so this isn't a day-long activity. The exhibits change regularly so you can have a totally new experience if you return after a good chunk of time. I really enjoyed the Radioactive Inactives exhibit (no photos!) and the stories paired with each portrait. I was lucky to be there while a sand mandala was being created as well. If I'm back in the area I will gladly stop by again to see what else is on display.”
