“Just spent a night here but what a delight. So great to check in where the staff is truly friendly and you feel genuinely welcomed. We were in our room for just a few moments when Kendryk at the front desk called to say he’d just made fresh coffee. It’s in the lobby if we’d like some. Our room was clean and smelled great. The best part, and a rarity these days was staying somewhere with caring staff that actually cared you were thee!”

“Lovely, comfortable and quiet, we had an excellent stay. The room and bed were very comfortable, the staff were excellent-friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for walking around town and parking is under the hotel and very convenient. My one complaint - PLEASE GET BETTER COFFEE. The coffee machine in the lobby for guests was undrinkable - and the restaurant coffee needs a serious upgrade. The hotel was beautiful and comfortable and I would stay there again, but I suggest you get dressed and run down to Cranberry's for coffee.”

“We booked a 2 bedroom suite for a small New Years gathering (4 ppl). Of course we did our own wipe down, but the rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen were clean and modern. The staff was friendly and helpful and I liked having a garage connected for parking. My friends and I absolutely loved the fire pit down on the patio. Shout out to the guy working the breakfast station. SO helpful and accommodating. Good standard breakfast options but as for most hotels, if you're vegan/gluten free (or are avoiding bread and potatoes) your options become a bit limited. You do have your own kitchen (with refrigerator, stove top and microwave) so you can always bring something. Overall, very satisfied and pleased with my stay.”

“I went on an ecological tour of all the restoration work the Tides Inn has been doing on recreating a living shoreline and resorting the health of Carter's Creek. The work they do is comprehensive and science based. They've maintained a riparian buffer, planted high & low tide marsh grasses/plants, and started aquaculture of oysters to integrate hospitality and sustainability. If you love science based trips this place is really worth it. Landscape is gorgeous. The resort was professional and clean for what little bit I did see inside.”

”Wonderful small hotel in the town of St Paul Virginia. Our friends suggested this when we were planning a visit and we are glad they did. Such a lovely hotel with amazing staff. The manager, Bobbi, was so kind and friendly and made our stay extra special. We were given a suite with a living area, two bedrooms, and large bathroom. The rooms have mini fridges and a small breakfast is brought to your room in the am. They have a nice coffee, tea, and water station in the lobby. There is also a Mexican restaurant, Nuevo Porto, on the ground floor. It was cold so we ate there a few times during our stay and it was good. They are close to many trails and have atv rentals in the warmer months. Great location and cozy hotel to stay in SW Virginia. We will be back and highly recommend this place.”

”Beautiful hotel. We paid extra for the balcony room but when we arrived the humid weather had the door stuck. Manager reimbursed me the money I had paid for the upgrade! Nice! Breakfast was delicious and ambience very relaxing. We will definitely stay here again.”

”All personal was very helpful and nice. Service was excellent. This place is spotless. For me it’s very important that a hotel or anyplace smells good and clean. The hotel and the room smells good, super clean. The housekeeping was very nice and does a very good job. Common areas are clean as well. I booked my room with just some hours before I arrived and I asked for a crib for my baby and they provide one with no charge. The hotel offers free breakfast, which was good and a lot of variety, eggs, a protein ( sausage/ bacon) oatmeal, cereal, bakery items, waffles that you can make yourself. It’s very hard to find places that doesn’t have a weird smell or a cigarette smell and this is the place bc smells clean I come to the area often for doc appointment, entertainment, or for a one night for further trips I will definitely come back here. I’m so happy I found this place. Next time I will bring workout clothes they have a small fitness room, they have a outdoor pool, which was obviously close for the season but it’s a big plus for summer days. I highly recommend it. ”My (now) fiancé and I got engaged at the Ashby Inn in February 2024! All of the staff made us and the experience feel so special. The chef's tasting menu dinner was the best meal either of us had ever had ... a really memorable lobster dish and duck entree in particular. We interacted most with the staff at the main office and in the restaurant, and everyone was incredibly warm, attentive, and helpful. Finally, the view from the room (we stayed in the Adams room) was incredible to wake up to ... we also were raving about the quality of the sheets and bath robes the whole time. We will definitely be coming back to celebrate anniversaries here, and we would recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway!”

”Wonderful stay here. From booking the reservation with Whitney to checked in by welcoming Tia, and Shantay making sure we had extra toiletries and providing recommendations for dining options- this was a great stay. The free hot breakfast was delightful- not fancy but every thing u need to start your day. Clean rooms and facilities. Unfortunately there was a broken down elevator that they are fixing, but it was not a long wait for the one functional elevator in the building. Totally recommend this place. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable.”

”I've stayed here twice; both times the rooms were clean, well equipped, and comfortable. This time I had a little kitchen area with a full refrigerator, sink garbage disposal, and microwave and for stays of several days it's a big convenience. The breakfast area downstairs is great, with a waffle maker and a decent selection of other options, and the staff obviously works hard keeping the place stocked up and in good order. Both times I have been here the folks at the front desk have been friendly, extremely helpful, and pretty funny.”

”Do not stay at the corn crib, especially in winter! The unit can barely heat itself so the owners/caretakers provide various heating units instead. Additionally, the corn crib is right next to someone's house as well as a work depot so there is zero privacy. In fact, we were woken up at 5 AM by a work truck shining its headlights into the corn crib. When we arrived, we noticed that the Roku TV did not work, so I messaged the inn keepers. After a few exchanges, they stopped responding to me and they did not help us fix the TV. The next morning, I wrote to another staff member who did little to address our concerns. Staying at the corn crib was not at all what we expected so we left early. I do not know how Stevenson ridge charges hundreds a night for the corn crib. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here at all.”

”The location is okay if you're just staying for a night or two -- good if you're visiting CNU or something. We loved our King room! The ceilings are really high and there is a nice big chair with an ottoman -- gives the room a very regal feel! Good shower, bed was good -- we were there on a Sat night and there is usually a bar available in the lobby that was not open for business. That was a little disappointing, but otherwise -- we would definitely stay there again.”

”Lovely hotel that with a few tweaks would get a higher rating. We stayed in the Brittany room. All of the rooms are furnished differently and with antiques. The bathroom was small, but our chief complaint is the mirror in there. The sink is in the corner with two small mirrors coming together in the corner, making it awkward to use. The towels are not plush enough either. There's a fireplace in the room but wasn't functional due to maintenance. That was a good reason we chose this 28-room hotel. Great breakfast in their cafe that is included. The staff are friendly.”

”Kevin, the gentleman behind the desk at night was great. His communication and customer service is terrific!! The TVs are great and my room was very clean and well maintained. The lady with red hair and earbuds in her ears desperately needs to be retrained or held accountable. I assume employees are not supposed to wear ear buds while working at the front desk. Usually it doesn't bother me, but she clearly did not want to be at work on 10/12/23. Would've given 5 stars if not for her.”

”My experience at the Hampton Inn Martinsville was great. The managers were awesome and showed great hospitality. Now onto the breakdown of my scores. The room i booked wasn't necessarily the type I'd usually get, but mainly because their King suite was not worth the King suite price based from the pictures online. Also, the room that I did book was on the top floor, and although we were on the top floor, we still heard a weird noise coming from the ceiling. (To anyone thinking, "Oh, it had to be the neighbors alongside the room." No, it was from the roof area.) The location of the hotel has a great proximity to places to eat and shop within the area. And the experience over all, housekeeping, breakfast, and services were phenomenal. Thank you, Hampton Inn Martinsville.”
