“Wonderful small hotel in the town of St Paul Virginia. Our friends suggested this when we were planning a visit and we are glad they did. Such a lovely hotel with amazing staff. The manager, Bobbi, was so kind and friendly and made our stay extra special. We were given a suite with a living area, two bedrooms, and large bathroom. The rooms have mini fridges and a small breakfast is brought to your room in the am. They have a nice coffee, tea, and water station in the lobby. There is also a Mexican restaurant, Nuevo Porto, on the ground floor. It was cold so we ate there a few times during our stay and it was good. They are close to many trails and have atv rentals in the warmer months. Great location and cozy hotel to stay in SW Virginia. We will be back and highly recommend this place.”

“Rooms are very clean but old. Very sparsely furnished with mismatched decor left from previous renovations - modern, old modern and traditional...all mixed up. No coffee table in sitting area, just two ottomans which you know folks put their feet on. Do I really want to put a plate, cup or laptop on these? TV stand is a twin bed headboard... very big spaces, good for family of 6-8 I guess. Sort of set up like Disney world room. Has fridge and microwave as well as an eating table with 2 chairs.”

“All personal was very helpful and nice. Service was excellent. This place is spotless. For me it’s very important that a hotel or anyplace smells good and clean. The hotel and the room smells good, super clean. The housekeeping was very nice and does a very good job. Common areas are clean as well. I booked my room with just some hours before I arrived and I asked for a crib for my baby and they provide one with no charge. The hotel offers free breakfast, which was good and a lot of variety, eggs, a protein ( sausage/ bacon) oatmeal, cereal, bakery items, waffles that you can make yourself. It’s very hard to find places that doesn’t have a weird smell or a cigarette smell and this is the place bc smells clean I come to the area often for doc appointment, entertainment, or for a one night for further trips I will definitely come back here. I’m so happy I found this place. Next time I will bring workout clothes they have a small fitness room, they have a outdoor pool, which was obviously close for the season but it’s a big plus for summer days. I highly recommend it. “My (now) fiancé and I got engaged at the Ashby Inn in February 2024! All of the staff made us and the experience feel so special. The chef's tasting menu dinner was the best meal either of us had ever had ... a really memorable lobster dish and duck entree in particular. We interacted most with the staff at the main office and in the restaurant, and everyone was incredibly warm, attentive, and helpful. Finally, the view from the room (we stayed in the Adams room) was incredible to wake up to ... we also were raving about the quality of the sheets and bath robes the whole time. We will definitely be coming back to celebrate anniversaries here, and we would recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway!”

”This review is for the EXTENDED stay RV sites! My husband and I lived in the campground for nearly 6 months. It was very quiet, staff was friendly, we loved our neighbors, and the nearness to the highway and downtown Williamsburg. That’s about the sum of the positives. The RV sites seemed like they were in a swamp. Especially during the rainy season. We know of several guests that asked for gravel to be added to the swampy sites which was never provided. When guests placed pavers or rugs to manage the mud, they were reprimanded and asked them to be removed. The sites are way overpriced for what they were worth. The bathrooms, dog park, pool, and laundry room could use more routine upkeep. I wish management would just put some money from their 5-star main campground into the extended stay sites because it could be so much more than what it is now.”

The property and the view that you're gifted is breathtaking. I was really taken a back and left awe struck. In our short stay we saw a beautiful sunset, a surprising meteor shower display and a sunrise that was matched only by the rolling hills that made the view perfect. We will definitely be back 💜”

”It was better than expected. We were greeted to a nice quiet space. I’ll start with the smell. The cabin smelled very inviting. I loved the scent in the bathroom. We followed the advice and dropped our phones into the cell phone box and started a camp fire and read the book on how to properly “getaway’. We took a drive on the beautiful skyline drive not too far away. Ate at a local diner for breakfast and did a night nature trail on the property. Amazing experience and will definitely be doing it again”

”This is one of the last independent beachfront motels that hasn't been mowed down for a boring, character-stripped chain. Other reviewers are right, it's dated... In the best way possible. Charm to the brim. And super clean. And super friendly staff. And perfect beach views perfectly centrally located on the boardwalk. Breakfast isn't included but it's so affordable you can easily go to any of the great little diners in the area. We'll definitely be back.”
