The dining area isn’t big, but you can tell that they have had a lot of customers over the years. People were continually arriving while we were there. We had the popcorn shrimp dinner and a clam fritter sandwich. Very reasonable for local fresh seafood.”

“We were down in Williamsburg for a short trip and had a lot of people recommend Fat Canary. We weren't able to get a reservation but we tried to call right when they opened. The phone went straight to a busy dial tone. I called about 20 minutes later and someone indicated that they had a table around 7-7:30 downstairs as the main room was all booked up. We would have to come in to put down a name doe the reservation. Luckily we were close by and was able to place our name down for 7 pm. We arrived around 6:45 and kind of hung out in their wine shop until 7:15. They have two menus, their main and then the downstairs menu. My friend ordered a the Bee-Laverdier cocktail which she really enjoyed. For our appetizer, we ordered the Lobster and for our entrees, I ordered the Pan Seared Duck Breast and my friend ordered the Grilled Atlantic Salmon. The Lobster fettuccine dish was okay, the snap peas seemed a little out of place and so did the pistachios. It seemed like it was a really random put together dish and kind of more of a small pasta plate than an appetizer. While the duck and salmon were both cooked beautifully, I found my duck lacking in flavor and the cherry demi glaze seemed more of a jus at the bottom of my plate under the Farro. My friends salmon sat upon Fregula pasta but there was a lot of oil at the bottom of the dish. It also seemed a strange mix with the golden raisins and capers as well. I asked for a recommendation of a wine pairing with the duck and was suggested the Cabernet Sauvignon Quilt. I'm not sure if something had adjusted my palate beforehand but it seemed quite acidic. Overall, a little disappointed as we heard so many great reviews. Not sure if I'd come back to try any of their other items. A cute place with a great atmosphere and a cute wine market downstairs but the food was lacking in our opinion.”

My husband can’t have been and I feel that most breweries not have a seltzer or cider on tap but Cape Charles does not — only wine. I also did not care for the beers I got on my flight. The food was a bit overpriced but all-in-all it was very tasty. We sat outside and the weather was awesome!”

”I went to Coastal Grill to celebrate a special occasion. The salmon was delicious, definitely recommend. The lamb was good. The scallops were to die for, 10 out of 10 keeps you coming again. The side corn was delicious as well. On the other hand, the shrimp and grits were not up to par. The added fresh tomato and pitted olives were questionable. Was not a fan of the potatoes either. The ambiance and service are beyond exceptional.”

”My first time here I ordered three piece whiting platter. It came with Three large whiting fillets, 3 large hush puppies a large portion of fries and 4oz coleslaw. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food I received and the platter was around $11. Everything was really great and tasted fresh. My only critique is on the coleslaw as it was bland and over chopped, but Seriously everything else was great. I will most definitely be coming back here again”

”Wouldn’t recommend going here. Had no silverware for a party of 5. 4 out 6 people were waiting for food as the other 2 ate. Ordered wings, nachos, boneless wings, “ribeye”, muscles, and fries. Boneless wings came after reminding the manager 3 times and after everyone ate. Never got the fries or hush puppies. Drinks were good but kinda hard to mess that up and came soon as the waitress asked if we needed another. The ribeye was what you get on a McDonald steak, egg, and cheese. The steak was ordered medium and came well done, 2 separate pieces that were 1/4” and had no flavor. Green beans as a side is what you want if you are vegetarian but wouldn’t if you are a meat and potatoes kinda guy. The waitress was great and sadly it wasn’t her fault but she is the middle of the transaction and experience. She was great yet couldn’t control situation. Had to speak to management and they very responsive to the situation and took care of it. Wish it was a better experience and been here many of times before but today tested my ability to return.”

I asked for Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes but instead I received collard green and sweet potatoes and both were nasty . The Collard greens tasted like they were from the can not good at all. The sweet potatoes tasted like they were frozen , put into a pot and that’s it. I feel like the pictures that she advertised looks absolutely nothing like the food she gave me! The chicken is why I gave it two stars cause the chicken had nice flavor. The crepe was okay it was 99% Nutella and 1 % crepe with 4 strawberries . Won’t be coming back :(”

Then I had 1/2 dozen raw oysters and 1/2 dozen steamed oysters with coleslaw, which was nice and simple. My husband had the 2 crabcake dinner with coleslaw and big onion rings. We left very full and satisfied, taking home some of the onion rings and crab puppies for later. We recommend this place, planning a return trip before we leave.”

The lobster bisque was very salty and was reminiscent of 'cream of ____'. We both ordered the prime rib with sautéed mushrooms. The prime rib was very bland and the mushrooms were dated and seemed boiled. My husband baked potato was good, but the butter and sour cream were still frozen when brought to the table. There were so many light fixtures, it was hard to see clearly, and the decor was very weird and random. The ambiance definitely leaves something to be desired. The server was very kind and wanted to hear some of our concerns before we left, which was very comforting. She also informed us that it is recently under new ownership. We hope they can address some things and turn a new leaf.”

Our order of Angus beef, New Zealand lamb shoulder, and pork belly was of good quality and cut. The only small issue was cleanliness; the tables needed better cleaning, and the sauce bottles were still greasy. If they address these concerns, I'm confident the business will thrive.
