Tapsilog Bistro

“We took mom for her birthday, she wanted Filipino food. We haven't been to Tapsilog in a long time. With more people, you can order extra food to share family-style. We ordered BBQ pork skewers, spinach laing, dinuguan, Shanghai lumpia, lechon kawali, and garlic rice. The servings were generous and the food tasty. The service was friendly. I liked that the lechon was fried but not dry and the skin was crispy. My parents appreciated that the food was not overly salty as well.”

“The restaurant is always packed for good reason. Their menu is pretty stable with only one item change that I have noticed across five visits in the last nine months. Excellent brunch, my party got ube pancakes and calamansi mimosas and I enjoyed the crab fat fried rice. The fried rice is perfectly made, but I’ll admit the crab fat didn’t add much and I probably won’t order it again. I never skip the sizzling sisig appetizer, it’s the perfect size for splitting two or three ways and will be an instant hit with anyone who enjoys traditional american breakfast fare. The truffle chicken adobo is well balanced and tender, and they have a wonderfully crispy pork belly lechon. While I haven’t seen it on the menu in a few months, don’t miss the kare-kare short-ribs if they’re in.”

“Great place to go for something a little different. Got cocktails and dinner with a friend, bought more to take home to family. This is kind of a smaller location, great for small groups or couples who want to hang out a while.”

“Well, what can I say? My aunt was Filipino, and lived in LA. I didn't get to eat her food all that often, but the times I did, it was great. My own mom tried her hand at it a couple of times, and... well... it was OK. This place? This place takes me back. It's great! The place itself is not much. Just a little hole in the wall, with only seating for about 16 people inside. But man, is the food great! We get it "to go" most often, but haven't had anything here yet that wasn't fantastic! And comparatively speaking, it's cheap compared to most fast food joints these days! Give it a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed! Just try to get there at least before 7, as they stop making pancit at 7p, and sometimes there isn't any. Enjoy!”

“It was my first time in Cebu restaurant, I really was hoping to interact with someone who can speak Visayan since the restaurants name is derived from the Queen City of the South, Cebu, but I was disappointed, lol... I tried the kinilaw, which had a spin, they added an espuma (foam) to the dish, I find it clever but would have been better if the fish was already marinated in calamansi with some vinegar to absorp its flavor instead of tasting the "fishy" taste of the fish. Their Tocino pork belly was good and serving is good for 2 for just under $20! Their drink choices are awesome but only got to try the coffee with ube foam, taste ok. Their Halo halo is a must try, I love how they spread it out in a bowl and added ube flavoring to the shaved ice. Though the inside is clean, the front of the store would probably benefit from a make over since it was vandalized. I will still go back to this place soon if ever Im in Chicago...btw, parking offstreet is free!”

Rice 'n Roll

27751 Harper Ave, St Clair Shores, MI 48081, United States

“Not sure how this place is open? Went for a first time visit this weekend. Food looked like it was a week old. No menu. No clear pricing on anything. No labels on anything so had no idea what was being presented to me? Daughter got ill after trying an oily eggroll that had wilted canned vegetables?!?) In it. Simultaneously had vomiting and diarrhea. I do hate posting about a small business like this but the food looked dangerous and risky to eat. Wanted to love this place! Not coming back.”

“SF East Bay. Maybe because I just came from Manila where of course everything is authentic tasting but the food here was BAD. I knew there was a reason why we haven’t eaten here for at least a decade & last night was a reminder of exactly why. Except for the chicharon bulaklak which seriously you just need to deep fry so it’d be hard to mess this up & the beef ribs sinigang which was tender & good, the other dishes were just not good. The sisig was bad, I couldn’t taste the bagoong in the bagoong rice & the garlic adobo shreds tasted like how I think deep fried paper would taste. I don’t recommend eating here at all.”

Elena's Restaurant

“Really yummy Filipino classics! Got the triple D special plate and the two choice plate lunch and they lasted us two meals between two people. The egg wrapped pork rice is delicious and the lechon crispy and addictive. Really liked the pork blood stew too. Would definitely come try more combo plates and maybe some of the fancier entree options :)”

Joey's Kitchen

“We love Joey's! We have been 3x since arriving in Napili last week and plan to go again today. The fish tacos are so good! I did get the salmon last time (delish, see photo) and husband got the garlic chicken (not my thing and he felt it was ok, I don't think he's really into deep fried chicken either, but the flavors were good, see photo). We weren't keen on a "fancy" dinner out, but wanted the food to be top notch - we found a winner!”

Toppings Too Restaurant

Loyola building, 3910 Smith St, Union City, CA 94587, United States

“My family and I come here once a while to go here since they serve more unique Filipino dishes since most of Filipino restaurants don’t serve Java Rice for example. This is a very small restaurant and I thought today is going to be full, but surprisingly, it isn’t. People usually go through takeout orders. I remember that they write down food items at the chalkboard, but it’s empty for now. I never bothered researching what Java Rice is, but it’s supposed to be Filipino fried rice fused with turmeric as its main flavor. The BBQ Chicken is really good especially when it comes with its own gravy. I never bothered trying other menu items besides what I have today, but definitely will try others when I come back!”

“If you want some authentic Filipino food, this is the place. I highly suggest the lechon kawali which are fried pork belly slices that are crispy and delightful! We not only went there twice in one week, but had to get the lechon kawali twice. Man the arroz caldo was also delicious on a cold day, we couldn't ask for a better dish. If you get the chance, try out the beef mechado, it was so good I forgot to take a pic as well as the pork lumpia. Don't forget the garlic rice!”
