“So my friends and I decided to eat dinner here. We made reservations but they got our time wrong and we had to wait even longer. We sat at the bar Ella was amazing and made awesome drinks. While we waited we sat at the bar and ordered appetizers. The oysters were not good. The salmon sliders were great along with spinach artichoke dip. We moved from the bar to the table and had to wait another 10-15 minutes to be greeted. Overall service was blah and we never got to order food because after being here for 2 hours they were out of a lot of things. So we asked to server for 2 minutes to review the menu she didn’t come back for about 15-20 minutes. We decided not to eat because it was almost now 9:30. This is the Coral Springs location. Probably will not return. I feel like I need to come early just for good service, which makes no sense.”

“I love the Merrick Inn! Such a beautiful, elegant restaurant inside. Wonderful bar! Beautiful and spacious patio with outside bar area as well. The service is always amazing, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere lends itself to a fabulous dining experience. ALL of the food is delicious. I had the salmon tonight and it was cooked perfectly. Will return again soon!”

“I love my food spicy so this was a great treat for me. I had the shrimp and grits. Had a great uniquely flavored sauce with grits, large BBQ shrimp and toasted garlic bread. I may reccommend that a side vegetable should be added for a little more balance. Wife had the garlic lime chicken on pasta. The chicken was well seasoned which helped assist the pasta which she felt was needing a little more flavor. Also ordered their personalized coffee that we both found very good. We shared a slice of the chocolate cake. It was nice and thick, creamy and topped with a cinnamon flavored cayenne pepper looking candy. A comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Staff made us feel welcome and were attentive. Good selection of wine, beer and other refreshments. Was also fun to see the open kitchen where you could view food preparation. I would advise calling ahead for a reservation. I would like to go back and try another dish to explore one of their BBQ dishes.”

“This is maybe the best restaurant in New Orleans. It has not quite 10 tables. Chef Brigtsen comes around to greet diners. The food is awesome. I had the seafood platter...not at all what you think it is. There was a filet of redfish topped with shrimp. There was an oyster with spinach. There were 2 scallops prepared differently. There was shrimp cornbread. Oy! My companion had sheepshead that she said was delicious. For dessert we had king cake bread pudding. Oy again!”

“I stopped by on Friday with a friend of mine. She wasn't really hungry so she asked me to order her Natural Cut Fries and Potato Salad. I ordered myself, Half Chicken and Mac N Cheese. I had to wait a bit to get help, but I was understanding because I've worked restaurants before. Mrs. Calhoun's (owner) took my order then I sat in a table. After she helped few customers behind me, she asked me if I wanted an additional plate since she noticed I came with my friend. I said yes, and thank you. People kept coming in to order and others were waiting on their orders. I immediately knew this place was going be good. Once she brought our food, she noticed the table was a bit dirty so she immediately cleaned it herself before giving us our food. I loved the BBQ flavor sauce and the chicken was tender. The Mac N Cheese had black pepper and good cheese texture. I also would like to mention the cup size was perfect for my feasting. I will definitely be back! She gave good service, the food is flavorful. Even my friend liked the food a lot. I plan to go again and this time take my sister and mom with me. I hope and know that in the near future Calhoun's Family Texas BBQ will get a bigger location so there is more seating. I will definitely be able take my siblings and their kiddos. But in the meantime I might just need place a catering order and just let my family try it here at the house, no matter what Calhoun's Family is serving our communities with flavorful BBQ meals, good heart and staying strong through it all. I sat in my truck out front and watched a young student through the window at the Art school across the street as he drew a portrait, for some odd reason I felt lucky to be in that moment.
