“I was in town with my boys (17 and 30 yrs old) for a white Christmas. We chanced into this most delicious experience at Seasoned Swine. The staff was super friendly but the food!!! It is amazing!! “This restaurant is great hidden gem. It's a historic building that was built in 1884 and was originally a grocery store. That's why the name "Lee's grocery"still remains. The atmosphere is very laid back. The service that we received was very nice too. The pizza was very tasty and had plenty of styles to choose from. There is a wide selection of beers and sodas. There is a outdoor patio that is fenced-in and pet friendly. The owner is very friendly and down-to-earth.”

“Definitely a diner. But it's good! The salad bar is good, and they did a good job on keeping items stocked. The hot bar is basic food... Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, peas, fried chicken, shrimp, fried cod bites... it was all basic but decent. The food on the menu was good! It was busy, went on a Friday night, and they take reservations. Plenty of seating. I had the grilled 1/4 lb pork chop. Delicious! They have a bar for cocktails. I hear the pies are amazing, but I was too full to try. Next time!”

(do keep in mind the hot fresh fried green tomato will continue to cook the poached eggs, so eat them quickly if you like runny). And the potatoes! Get the small batch hot sauce. “Really cool place to have lunch. Flew in with a friend from Morristown airport. Plane parking was not an issue. Because the airstrip is on a hill there are wheel chalks available to use while you’re there. View is great. A light breeze makes the difference on a hot day. Food was great and service was decent. They were not really attentive. We were seated pretty quickly but the food took a bit to get to us. Kitchen looked pretty small. The food was great though. Spicy chicken sandwich was amazing. The bacon made a difference. Steak sandwich was great too. I’d fly back to try more of the menu.”

“Full disclosure, we arrived a half hour before they closed so some of my complaints are likely due to being the last customers of the day. First time trying this place and was unfortunately not impressed. Shared a 2 meat and 2 side plate. The brisket was tough/dry and the corn side was also dry and bland. This is likely due to being cooked earlier that day and being kept warm until they closed. The pulled pork was tender, juicy and flavorful but unfortunately all our food besides the beans and cheese curds came out very cold. Didn’t get to try the potato salad or Mac and cheese because they were out, again our fault for being there at the end of the day. I would give this place another try, but get there when they open for hopefully higher quality. The other issue was the service. Besides the fact all four staff members appeared to be in high school, the young woman who took our order was rather dismissive and not friendly. I understand its the end of the day but unfortunately this was a negative experience. They all appeared to be working hard and there was other people there the same time as us so again, I can sympathize with the attitudes. Overall I wouldn’t say this is the best bbq in Salem, but I would be willing to go back and give the service and food another chance. Maybe this was an off evening for them.”

I had the antelope lettuce wraps. They were absolutely perfect. The texture. The flavor. The balance of fat to spice. Great use of leftover off cuts of both meat and vegetables. It took what could have been garbage and made it one of the most flavorful, texture filled, and filling lunches I have had in a long time. I adored the fresh house made grapefruit spritzer (I had them hold the simple syrup) which was a great accompaniment to my meal. I enjoyed the French press tea, but would have thought with a French press I would get more than one cup of tea. The house cured bacon 🥓 was a soft chew texture - I personally like my bacon a little crisper - but the flavor was excellent. I will come back again and again. Great spot for the meat lover in your life. Awesome date spot or great for a bro’s brunch. (I saw a few different tables occupied by groups of male friends and/or coworkers.)”
