“So the cost of the tasting menu was around $400 with all of the fees. The food was tailored around the theme of nostalgia and used a lot of local ingredients including seafood and vegetable and fruits. The dining experience is communal but I was cut off from the other party with the floral arrangement which made it a pretty isolating experience. Which could be good or bad for you depending on if you want socialize. The meal started off with a very earthy, floral tea. One of my favorite dishes was the slice of corn whatever you want to call it with caviar. Overall, the food was good. I felt really rushed. The experience is supposed to be two and a half to 3 hours but I was done around 2 hours or less. They also moved me before the dessert course to the upstairs room which was kind of uncomfortable. I thought I was being moved because they overbooked but nobody ever sat in my seat. I would have preferred to stay at the table. I was the only one up there. A lot of the dishes are very heavy. There wasn't much to break it apart in terms of something light or acidic. There was just a slice of peach during the duck portion. But then I was really full, plus being kind of rushed, the course after that was wagyu which I couldn't really enjoy because there was no breakup of flavors and well time. The duck breast was very good and then there was a box that come with a duck liver moose and beef jerky and a couple of other things. After the wagyu was the dessert which at least the melon was refreshing and then I did like the strawberry shortcake. The desserts were the weakest part of the menu for me. But overall I just felt rushed and kind of uncomfortable. I guess I expected it to be a bit more how do I put it... Cohesive? Comfortable? I didn't expect any flaws. I didn't love every dish. Do I think it was worth what I paid? I am not sure. Would I go back? I don't think so. I'll also add that I asked a couple of times for the drink menu, but I just got suggestions and didn't realize I would be paying $60 for two drinks on top of the meal. I could have just gotten the wine pairing at that rate. Some things were really good but I think they could have been enjoyed even more if I felt like I had time to savor them. There are a bunch of different servers that come at different times and they do provide a lot of information about each plate, which is great but also, just ease up a little. Part of the atmosphere is part of the food experience and feeling anxious or nervous because of the pacing doesn't really add anything to the experience in my opinion. But overall stuff was pretty friendly. I thought they were a bit stiff on their deliveries sometimes which surprised me as well. But it was a good experience. Something new at least. Have I had tasting courses I enjoyed more for a lot less? Yes.”

“Second time eating here, I liked it even better. This is the only place where I feel the sushi tastes like how I am familiar with. They are good with their fish, either raw or cooked. I rarely like eel nigiri or just eel in general (like unagi don) unless it’s cooked alright but tonight it was my favorite. It was absolutely delicious so was everything else. By far the best Japanese restaurant I’ve been to in AZ. Will def go back😋”

“The Omakase tasting meal here is the pinnacle of a culinary experience in a comfortable, non-pretentious atmosphere. Sublime flavors with out of this world presentation. Jesse is an incredible chef and host who deserves all of the awards and praise he has received. I wish I could rate this higher than a 5 as it was a top 3 lifetime meal for me. If you are lucky enough to get a seat at the Omakase table, you will not be disappointed. Still thinking about the meal a day later and probably will be weeks from now.”

“This is a loaded review as I ordered sushi for takeout and did not dine-in. The hot rolls i ordered were soggy and cold by the time I got home ~15mins. This is for sure partially my fault for ordering sushi for takeout....i don't recommend doing that, especially with cooked rolls. Everything else was good, I liked the tuna app and would try it again. I could see the coconut shrimp being amazing if I would have eating them fresh instead of having take out. Will give another shot and update review accordingly. For 4 rolls and the tuna app it was $65.00”

“Just got into town and we found that this place had a half hour from 5:00 to 7:00 so we decided to check it out and to our surprise it was pretty amazing. The happy hour menu has a ton of stuff on it and they're all at incredible prices. You got to make sure that you can see at the bar as that is where the happy hour is. People were lined up before the place even opened. So if you're trying to get in here for happy hour make sure you come a little early. Once you get to the bar, you get a huge loaf of complementary bread along with olive oil, balsamic and spices. There is a good selection of wines and mixed drinks for 6 to $7 and 3 beers for $3 a piece so it shouldn't be hard to find something to drink. The happy hour food menu has a couple pasta offerings along with some seafood offerings which are all around $7. You definitely can't beat this place. Their standard dinner menu has some amazing dishes to offer and the decor of this place is pretty cool. The staff was friendly and was able to help with accommodations along with recommending other places in town to see. Will be going back before our trip ends. Only downside of this whole place is the parking situation... You either valet or you're making a walk to get here.”

“FRESH INGREDIENTS! This restaurant serves the freshest sushi around! Everything from the wasabi to the rice to the fish was incredible. We ordered the salmon hibachi with fried rice, vegetables and coconut tofu soup. The soup had a hint of spice and it was perfect for this 33 degree evening. We also ordered the Nam Tok Beef, War Eagle Roll, volcano roll, and the Hawaii roll. The ginger salad is also very good with a sweet flavor. The restaurant looks like there’s been some updates since our last visit. Great for families, friends, and date nights. There is spacious seating as well. Our server was incredibly sweet and showed up to the table at the best times, providing everything we asked for with pleasant service.”

“Where do I begin? For starters, the atmosphere was incredible. Low lights, very mellow music...just overall, great. I was very comfortable. They started off with beverages and some miso, I went with a water and it had lemon. The miso was great! Very fresh. I order the Philadelphia Roll and the steak bento box. I'm not a fan of cold sushi, myself but it was delicious. The bento box was a solid 10/10, my only complaint would be that there wasn't MORE steak and spring rolls 😂 I also got a yum yum roll to go. Took leftovers home to my significant other and he even enjoyed them. I'll definitely be making a return to this establishment. ☺️”

“We did magical dining and happy hour at the sushi bar! Restaurant was super busy but we were still taken care of. Highly recommend. Flavors were fantastic. They even have fresh wasabi as an option! Happy hour allowed us to taste a few of what was to come. For magical dining I got the chirashi which was delicious I loved the pickled veggies (and they had lotus root my fav). My friend a roll and upgraded to A5 Wagyu nigiri. Dessert blew us away as well! The Pms and the Panama cotta were both delicious. Definitely will be back OFTEN.”

“Everything about this place is great! From clean bathrooms, amazing ambiance, music, flavor. We are from the north and we know a thing or two. The chicken and beef were not rubbery and were made fresh to order. If you are in the are come in for an affordable and delicious lunch or dinner. My kids can be picky and they loved it. The edamame was great, and the dumplings with their in house sauce was spot on. Ohh and the service, this gentle, friendly, lady was so sweet! “This place was an amazing restaurant by far. The service there was impeccable. They were so nice and they did their job very well. I ordered the bolognese and it was big enough for two people. It had an amazing flavor in the shredded cheese on top and the sauce with the pasta made it perfect. It was also a little bit dark to enhance the atmosphere and I thought it was very nice. I cannot wait to come back here because of how good the food is and the restaurant. The only minor problem that I had was that the lava cake that we had for desert didn't have the melted chocolate ganache inside. It just didnt melt but it was still very good. This was an awesome place and I highly recommend it to everyone.”

“Update: We've eaten here a few times since my original review to give them a second chance. Quality still seems hit and miss. When it's good, it's good. But its a real bummer when it's not. So far though, at least I have not seen any stickers left on the produce...End Update. Very disappointed. We've been coming here for years, usually for take out but recently their quality has gone down and their prices have gone up. Their vegetables aren't very fresh anymore and it looks like they're not even washing them. They didn't even bother to remove the sticker from a lime this last time! That is an invitation to food poisoning. After being a loyal customer for years, it's time to look elsewhere.”
