Quail Ridge Books
4.8
( 8 reviews )

4209-100 Lassiter Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609, United States

“Had a great time at Quail Ridge today! My kids adored the children’s area, which was larger than I expected and wonderfully curated. I wish I lived closer and was able to visit more often, but I have now found a new favorite place to stop in when I’m Raleigh. I especially loved the “tribute to authors” walls in the restrooms! My only regret is that I wasn’t able to spend more time exploring.”

“I've been to The Evening Muse many times. I absolutely love this venue. The people who run this place are amazingly kind. That is why this place is one of my favorite indoor venues to see a band. I love the acoustics. I've seen them host many different types of acts and they do a great job with every act I've seen. Whether you are going to a show or you are looking for a venue, The Evening Muse is the place for you.”

1526 Alleghany St B, Charlotte, NC 28208, United States

”This place is awesome! The grid is fun and challenging however some of the sensors didn’t work in a few of the rooms which would have given us more points. Bordertown is a blast!! Tactical laser tag felt like being in a war so if you have an anxiety for guns then this isn’t for you. Jack was awesome, very helpful and fun guide to each mission. Will be going back.”

Reynolda House Museum Of American Art
4.6
( 8 reviews )

2250 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106, United States

”Attended Christmas with the Reynolds family at 7:30pm. Docent and all the dressed up characters from the time were excellent. Enjoyed the organ Christmas music too. The treats at the end were a joke (apple cider and pocky chocolate covered sticks) as the staff were cleaning them up while we were there which I found rude. Why not make it a traditional treat served during this time or at least a holiday one? The home is lovely and the history interesting so I do recommend a trip!”

”We visited Rocky Mount Mills while in the area for a baseball tourney. Such a cool development. Several good breweries, tap rooms, and restaurants to choose from. They also have some good bands playing. We stayed in the tiny homes and highly recommend making a reservation. They are within walking distance to everything!! Check this place out when you have the opportunity.”

Ava Gardner Museum

( 16 reviews )

325 E Market St, Smithfield, NC 27577, United States

”For anyone who's interested in the Golden age of movies, this is a great day trip. There's a short movie (18 minutes) to get you started and then you can explore the many costumes, ephemera, and personal items from Gqrdener's life. Be sure to take advantage of the docent and ask a lot of questions, it will make your trip more memorable. I spent 2 hours but you could spend less or more depending on your level of interest.”

”Great job from our tour guide! We always enjoy a good ghost tour in a new city we are visiting…and I don’t typically believe in ghosts, it’s fun to be entertained. But this tour actually had me googling these stories. He was very convincing and had me believing! Which is what you want! History mixed with some haunts makes for a fun, entertaining way to see a beautiful city! So thank you!”

Letters Bookshop
4.7
( 8 reviews )

116 W Main St, Durham, NC 27701, United States

”The style of this place was amazing. It was quite frankly one of the prettiest and esthetic bookstores I have been in. They had really cool copies of tons of vintage books that were just gorgeous and only 9$. I did find their fiction section to be a little lacking, but I might have just not looked long enough. The upstairs was really cool and the ceiling and doors up there gave old timey glamour vibes. Overall a cool store.”

Downtown Fayetteville
4.3
( 8 reviews )

222 Hay St, Fayetteville, NC 28301, United States

”There are definitely hidden gems including antique stores and boutiques and delicious restaurants in Downtown Fayetteville. Art installations and statues are sprinkled throughout and coffee shops for the morning and wine bars and breweries for the night. It has a historic vibe with a "diamond in the rough" kind of feel. Downtown Fayetteville has something special and it keeps getting better with new additions. Some of my favorite places so far are the Coffee Cup, Airborne and Special Ops Museum, Gaston Brewery, The Sweet Palate, and The Fried Turkey Sandwich Shop. Come and visit and explore some of the shops down here!”

The Charlotte Museum Of History

Millbridge Speedway

”Only been here 3 times so far but I was hooked on the first night!! The track changes daily so the groove is different every time. Keeps drivers on their toes and brings out the best talent. Having been in asphalt the last few years it was awesome to get back to the dirt. Plus you never know who you may see there or race against. Top talent and professional drivers are here week in and week out.”

Hart Square Village
4.9
( 8 reviews )

5055 Hope Rd, Vale, NC 28168, United States

”I first learned about the village in a PBS documentary, and knew I had to see it. This is the largest collection of log buildings anywhere in the US. Dr. Hart began collecting log structures he found on other properties within a 20 mile radius of Hickory, NC; got the rights to them from the property owners; and then reconstructed them on his own property in the woods surrounding a small lake. In all, he collected 104 log structures to create the village. On the last Saturday of October the village is populated with people in period costume, circa 1790-1820. All of the buildings are open and filled with an amazing assortment of tools, utensils, materials and goods from the era. The amount of detail is amazing! Craftspeople of all trades populate the village and can be found creating their crafts or professions. On many porches of the wealthier log homes, musicians gather and play old-timey music, some from those early days and some that are more contemporary. Here are just a few pictures representing the variety of crafts, professions and buildings that bring this town to life each year. Note the vicar walking home from church; the surveyor in the top heat and vest; the coffin in the rafters of the general store; the cooper, boot maker, various forms of transport and early machinery. Also note the young revolutionary soldier posing with the firestation water tank, and the three-holer outhouse. Was that really a social event back in the day? A wonderful, educational living history of life 200 years ago. I talked with people who have been going for 30 years who stated they see and learn something new each year.”
