“Great stop on the road when traveling with dogs. There is a town dog park next door, which is also very clean and well kept. This may be the most pet friendly hotel I’ve been to. The staff interacted with my dog, gave her treats and toys and there is a station with essentials when going to the dog park. Rooms are updated, beds are comfortable. Very clean, no pet odor. The only negative is road traffic noise from the highway, and toiletries were not filled. Continental breakfast had plenty of options, including health conscious options.”

”The good.... The Hotel front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hotel is quiet and in a fine location. The pool and public areas are fine and the breakfast was good. The bad... We have stayed at many Hampton Inns and this one is sub-par and the worst I have experienced in terms of room condition and upkeep. In short, the room (517) simply was not maintained and ready to receive us as guests: (1) The bathroom vent fan squeaked loudly such that it could be heard in the sleeping area with the door closed, (2) the tub would not drain (took longer that 30 min), (3) there was no shampoo bottle in the shower, (4) the body wash bottle was empty, and (5) there were holes in the shower tile, rusty pipes, and the wooden furniture, are generally worn which included a wobbly fridge stand. We stayed for 5 nites, the issues were reported to the front desk right away, and some issues were resolved (the drain was cleared and tile holes filled), but, the other issues were not addressed during our stay... We got a bottle of shampoo and bars of soap from the front desk. The breakfast was well prepared, food was readily available, and the area was very clean. The breakfast staff were great. It just seems that there were fewer food choices as compared to other Hampton Inns... For example... No Bold Coffee. See photos. Perhaps none of these are critical issues, but, they put the hotel on par with some of the lower cost hotel options and are not consistent with the Hampton Inn standard.”

”We stayed for a weekend. I was running a 5k that was happening at the vineyard so it was super convenient. We stayed in the Maritime Cabin (2 person) and for us it was quite spacious and comfortable. Good heat, parking directly in front of the room, standard amenities (fridge, coffee, hair dryer). No housekeeping, but extra towels were already in the room and anything you needed was available from the front desk at the spa. I had to pop over for extra shampoo one morning & very quickly had what I needed. Nice being on the vineyard. In warmer weather the porch off the cabin would have been perfect for a bottle of wine & relaxing evening. The property has an access trail to the park across the stream for walking. We were also able to enjoy the petting zoo, distillery samples and a flight of wine at the Cork Room bar. Everything on property is an easy walk. If we are ever back in the area we would absolutely stay here again.”

”We've stayed at a number of properties on Carolina Beach and honestly, this is the best experience we've ever had. From the moment we checked in, the staff was courteous and attentive. Getting into our room was a breeze and, once inside, we were extremely happy with the state of the room. Clean, quaint, and with a great view. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was a nice added bonus. The easy access to the beach was also a huge plus for us. Add in a pool and we were sold! We will definitely be back at this property, we couldn't recommend it enough!”

”Loved our 4 night stay. The yurts are well appointed...very comfortable and furnished with everything you need. Very close proximity to the State Forest and visitor center. Very restful. Really enjoyed the back deck with the gas grill, zero gravity lounge chairs and table with chairs....we ate many of our meals and especially morning coffee there. The fire pit ( Solo Stove) is excellent and the firewood was well seasoned to burn well and completely. We spent our 42nd anniversary here and will be back.”

”Bonnie is amazing! I've never been greeted so professionally and warmly upon arrive to a hotel for a business trip! She answered every question with thorough responses and she showed me that she deeply cares about my comfort during my stay. SHE IS WONDERFUL and such an ASSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE HER A SURPRISE RAISE! The main downfalls are that the fitness room is too hot and there is no way to change the temps. Also, the breakfast is good, but there is not a mixture of fresh fruit that I am accustomed to getting at a Hampton Inn. The breakfast and the feeling of safety are the reasons why I stay at Hampton Inn hotels.”

”This is a very old and tattered hotel. Rooms were musty, dusty, there was actual black filth on the baseboards. Another of our group’s rooms had drywall coming off the wall. Furniture tattered, banged up, just terrible. Looks like they remodeled another hotel and brought all the old furniture to this one. Saw a baby roach in the bathroom upon arrival. No actual closet, just a bar on the window wall with a curtain. The people working there were nice. They deserve to work in a better hotel.”

”I LOVED my stay at the River Hotel of Southport. Everything exceeded my expectations. The rooms are as nice as the pictures and super super clean! It felt more like my own little apartment rather than a hotel room, honestly. Also, the beds were so, so comfortable. Wonderful location, close to everything but kind of tucked away and private at the same time. The live music was a blast. Plenty of parking. Housekeeping even added our own pillows to the makeup of the bed when they cleaned! That made us chuckle :) I loved our little balcony. Everyone was super friendly and went above and beyond to help me with an issue I had when I made the reservation. Definitely will be back again and I've been recommending it to everyone!”

”We stayed at the Seawitch on New Year’s Eve. The lady running the motel was super friendly. We arrived a couple hours early. While we couldn’t check in early since she was short staffed and the room wasn’t ready yet, she did allow us to remain parked there and gave us a parking pass. So we just walked the board walk and around the fresh water lake across from the ocean and got something to eat. The room was ready when we got back and it was very clean and smelled so good. Would definitely stay here again!”

”We enjoyed our stay even though we probably had the worst room in the hotel. The staff was very friendly and we were greeted with a welcome drink at the desk. It is in walking distance to all of the downtown places. They even had a bluegrass band on the porch Sunday afternoon. The hotel restaurant looks very quaint and quirky with pleasant music playing all around. It seemed to be fairly busy but we did not have an opportunity to eat there. We would consider staying at HMH again in a different room.”
