“I recently walked into a local barber shop. I’ve passed by it a few times and really needed a cut; it seemed like they were experienced barbers who would have no issues with a fade. I was able to get into a chair right away, but then a noticeable language barrier emerged when I sat down, making me consider leaving. Since I had a feeling I was not going to like the result but felt awkward and with the cape already on, I proceeded despite my reservations. The language challenge persisted, hindering effective communication of my preferences. Though I initially requested a high fade, I found it challenging to convey my expectations, leading to a different outcome. The final result significantly differed from what I envisioned, no fade and the beard lineup without a straight blade (at $60, I expected a cleaner lineup). Despite the challenges, I acknowledge that she did her best. In summary, at $60, the overall experience definitely fell short of expectations.I suggest elsewhere if you’re looking for a fade, this seems like more like one of those places where you tell them what numbers you want on the sides and top .”

“Let me start by saying i was a hair model for root touch up. Maybe a regular customer would get different treatment, which hasn’t been the case in most salons but maybe here they do. Reached out to Noah through an ad on salon apprentice. He was very responsive and i got an appt for the next day Sunday at 1045am. When i came in i was greeted and taken my jacket. Then i sat down with Noah and the teacher, she asked for my name and tried to say it a couple times and the last time she said it she said “good enough” LOL. WTH! I understand my name isn’t easy but first time I’ve heard that. The teacher’s demeanor was ok, but not the friendliest. They went through what they are doing with my hair, and to get color throughout my hair it would be an additional $10 but just my roots it would be base price. He colored my hair fairly quickly. While i sat there another stylist put her items in my area (large lemon water, glasses, hair spray). I was never offered a drink (water, coffee, tea) and i didn’t see any outlets on the area in front of me, luckily i brought a charger for my phone. And i had the color for 40-45min, probably a bit long IMO but i didn’t time it. The best part of my experience is Maribel, the lady who washed my hair, amazing, so kind, and excellent experience. After that, Noah blew out my hair, he asked me where i part my hair but didn’t ask if i wanted to straight or wavy. Blow out was well done. At the end he also told me he was going to take a picture and didn’t ask me. I was fine with taking a picture but would’ve been nice to be asked. And when i paid i was told cash only which i had but wasn’t told that ahead of time. Overall good experience but those little things would make it more enjoyable. Again, maybe bc i was a model- hope they are more attentive to their customers because I’m sure they’re paying a pretty penny.”

“I came here for prenatal massages a few times. I wasn’t committed to any one masseuse and tried a few different people. The prenatal massage here is side lying supported with all the right pillows and bolsters. The masseuses were great and very professional. I had one male masseuse and he was very careful to explain each step. It was very appreciated. All the other masseuses had great technique and adjusted strength to how I was feeling and what I needed that particular day. They took care of all aches and pains during pregnancy and I highly recommend them!”

“My first visit was amazing, gel manicure was stunning, everyone was very nice. Second visit I booked a VIP service which is the manicure and pedicure at the same time. The pedicure was picture perfect my technician took her time and did a very through job. Unfortunately my gel manicure was very rushed and there were many issues. For those who know about Russian manicures, they take some time but are totally worth it. This manicure was done in 45 minutes- first red flag. The cuticles were choppy, each nail was a different size, gel was very thick, a repair on a crack re-cracked after 1 day. I paid and tipped well for each technicians time. I notified the business about the issues with the manicure in a timely manner and was told I needed to pay for a redo. I said I would pay but I wanted a redo so they looked good for the holidays. After reaching out 3 times to book an appointment for a redo, no response. I had to go somewhere else to fix all the issues and the other shop had additional charges for the crack repair and to remove the work done from Brooklyn Beauty Lounge. I was really hoping this business would make things right and I hoped this would be my go to spot but I am left disappointed by the lack of care. UPDATE 12/26/23- the manager of the business reached out to me after reading this review and genuinely apologized for the experience and lack of communication on the part of the front desk attendant. She offered to have manicure done properly which I will accept that offer when I am due for my next manicure. I am giving an additional star from the original 2 star review for the effort and I will update after the visit.”

“I got a low fade earlier in the day, and the guy jacked my hair up. I knew of Vinny's from passing and went in to see if he could fix my hair. I walked in and explained my situation to Vinny. He took me in, sat me down, and went to work on my hair. I cannot say enough about his work. I was worried he would'nt be able to do anything with it, but he gave me exactly what I was looking for. I had a wonderful time talking to Vinny and cannot thank him enough for fixing my cut. The shop is awesome, Vinny is fun to talk to, and it's a very laid back welcoming atmosphere. Never had a bad cut at DSZ. The shop has such a cool retro vibe, the staff is always friendly, my kids love hanging out and playing chess while we wait for our appointment. “I started going to Bob in the spring of this year. I am very happy with the cut and the color (which he brilliantly matched so well with my existing color). My hair is very thick and curly and I usually straighten. It’s time consuming, but my preferred style. Bob, knowing the time I spend straightening, suggested a keratin treatment. I considered it for years, but was never confident to try a stylist who does it. Tonight I did and couldn’t be happier. For the first time in my life, I have care free straight hair and I love it! Before and after pics below. If you are considering the treatment, i recommend you talk to Bob. If you’re just looking for great color and cut, I also recommend Bob (and company-the entire staff is pretty awesome).”
