“Salem Cross Inn is definitely a special occasion place. It has a tiny tavern in the basement with a small intimate bar near a cozy fireplace that looks out onto the endless pastures & wildflower gardens. Evan always checks in to make sure you’re taken care of. Tyler & Heather the bartenders are extremely hospitable & always remember you. They have a lovely ever changing specials menu along with their standard options that are difficult enough to pick from as they are all so amazing. The Duck is crispy & decadent , the catfish ( a special ) melted in your mouth accompanied by jalapeño cheddar grits!!! Every dinner comes with their delectable squash muffins ( which are great for breakfast with coffee!). They have an amazing Caesar salad -perfectly dressed. If you are looking for a cozy date night place with attention to detail you will not be disappointed!”

“My husband and I spent the Christmas Holiday at Devonfield Inn; it was our third stay and will definitely not be our last. Doug and Jim are both hospitable and go above and beyond exceptional service. From check-in to check-out, we were always satisfied. We began our holiday experience with a tour of the Inn's Holiday decor with Doug, followed by a holiday happy hour featuring wine, cheese, a live piano performance, and Christmas tunes sung by Doug, Jim, and the guests. The gourmet breakfast Jim prepared for us each morning was one of the many highlights of our trip. Prepare yourself; a sweet or savory breakfast feast always follows a delicious cake starter. The waistline may be unhappy, but the tastebuds will be thrilled. Another highlight is Doug's loop and favorite hike; there is much to enjoy! ”Been to many hotels but this one is not up to the Hampton standard. The hallways had a weird smell and no air conditioning. When we stepped into our room, it had a stinky odor and the cooling system was not functional. We lowered the temperature down to 65 and still no change as there was just a small AC vent on the wall and not other cooling unit in the room. The bins had no liners and felt dirty. Restroom floor was greasy and the soap holder was broken, on top of that there was wet soap residue in the holder meaning it was not cleaned. Finally, we decided to leave this shabby motel come hotel. The hotel receptionist was kind enough to offer us refund and the staff was nice overall.”

”The room, a "suite," was large with an area near the door with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker (none of which we used). The bed was comfortable. The room was clean and quiet. The breakfast was adequate and the woman who was tending to things was very good at keeping it stocked and was friendly. The other staff was nice as well. The exercise room had a recumbent bike, a Peloton and a treadmill and they all worked. There were weights and another guest noted there was no bench for using with the weights. All in all, it was a good place to stay at a reasonable price.”

”Second time in span of two months staying at this hotel as it is close to sons school with reasonable priced rooms though a bit on the smaller side. Hotel is clean, well maintained and location is good. They have breakfast in the morning that is complimentary. Do not hear much of the outside noise being that you have train and streets surrounding the hotel. White noise machine provided in rooms. My only two issues with this hotel is that both times when I checked into my room, the air was never on so the rooms were very muggy and hot. Took a bit to get it to comfortable temperature. Second, issue is the $40 parking charge and the fact that if you do not get a spot early, good luck fitting your can anywhere. If you lucky enough to get a corner spot anywhere in the lot, don't move your car. I will give credit to one of the staff members that came out late night and directed me to park right on the other side of the parking lot as she saw no one else was fitting their car anywhere.”

”We had 2 adjoining rooms. The rooms were clean and comfy with lighting that was actually adequate. Nice walk in shower with bright lighting. You do have to be careful though going back and forth through the adjoining bedroom doors. If you don't prop them open with something, you will find that they lock behind you and you have to go out in the hall and enter the next room from the outside. Staff was friendly and helpful. And I liked the fact that if you had enough towels and didn't need your room cleaned, nobody came barging in. I would definitely stay here again.”

”We were at the Brass lantern for a 2-night birthday weekend for my husband. They were very accommodating to our little dog (bed, feeding bowls). The location was perfection. Off a main downtown street but extremely quiet. The room was a good size and clean. The bed and linens were wonderfully comfortable; the shower nice and hot. Wish we were there in the summer to take advantage of their lovely patio. The continental breakfasts were great and ample. Sharon was very professional and kind. Fortunately she was available to get us in our room after dining out one night as we locked ourselves out. Highly recommend the Brass Lantern especially if you have a dog. Thank you so much!”

We stayed in the Gilded stage room and the bathroom was luxurious (multiple shower heads, heater right outside the shower, and a heated toilet seat too!). The room was clean and well kept and the bed was very comfortable. In the morning we were kindly greeted by the owners who made us breakfast, which was very delicious and filling. This Inn was very conveniently located to local attractions. If we return to the Berkshires we will definitely be staying here again!”
