Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery
4.6
( 8 reviews )

217 Essex St, Salem, MA 01970, United States

“Great wax museum inside the oldest bank building in Salem (1803), and they make use of the old vaults, so it's a unique setup. If you are a fan of horror films and their history, you'll like this place. There are placards throughout the gallery that provide a lot of little known facts/trivia about the actors and films throughout horror cinema history. No photos allowed in the gallery, just in the shop. Gift shop is small, but charming. My daughter and I really enjoyed it.”

“What a treat to experience the oldest platform carousel ride in America! Give little ones a heads up that the horses are stationary - unlike today’s amusement park horses. Plus, don’t miss out on the ring game. Try to win a free ride by grabbing a brass ring! This little gem of a spot is worth stopping by for family fun!”

Lowell National Historical Park
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

246 Market St, Lowell, MA 01852, United States

”Parking at the visitors center seemed challenging when I arrived, I drove around and finally found some metered street parking. Apparently, they validate parking in a ramp behind the visitors center. There was also a large surface lot barricaded off for some reason. They offer a free walking tour of Suffolk Mill, a $12 canal tour, a free boarding house museum and $6 self guided tour of Books Mill. Trolleys run to the major sights. I struggled to get an overview of what "Lowell" was and the major sights. It would be nice if they developed a "What to see" in 2-3 hours, a half day and full day, recommendations like many of the National Parks have.”

875 Merriam Ave, Twin City Plaza #123, Leominster, MA 01420, United States

”My sister and I went here for her birthday. It was our first time attending a painting class together and we had so much fun! I've never painted like that and it was so much fun. It was really cool to learn the techniques that Bob Ross used and my sister is a big fan of Bob Ross! Definitely going to more”

Chatham Orpheum Theater
4.8
( 10 reviews )

637 Main St, Chatham, MA 02633, United States

”First time patron and will definitely be back. I’m a movie junkie from one of my first jobs as an usher ( yes I’m that old), in a movie theater. There’s just nothing not to like. It’s an old theater (I like old like me) than was saved and done over by generous patrons of the arts. It has 2 theaters, 1 quite a bit smaller than the main theater. Everything is perfect, large screens, good sound system, very comfortable seats that recline and everything is spotless. The lobby, restrooms and the theater itself were very clean. Like the Mrs. says; “There’s clean and then there’s; they even clean in the corners clean.” Their corners were clean too. Some other things that make this theater special are the old classic movie posters, the extremely large mural on the large wall in the lobby of dozens of movie stars. I looked it over for several minutes and came up with the names of many of them and would love to see how many I could come up with. The corridor that leads from the lobby to the theaters is covered with heart warming stories of people with Autism. It’s a heartwarming use of a public space. Now that you’ve heard all the great things about this place wait there’s more. Just when you’ve gotten everything you’d want in a movie house, they throw in a small pizza restaurant with a full liquor license. The pizza shop is one of several “Pizza Shark” shops on the Cape. Never having had one we decided to stop and have a slice after the show. We both liked it, in fact possibly my favorite new Cape pizza. It’s pretty much a thin crust style with a great crust, perfect blend of sauce and cheese with a great flavor. What more could you ask for. We will absolutely be returning as this will be our first choice for movie viewing in the area.”

Strand Theatre

543 Columbia Rd, Boston, MA 02125, United States

”Loved this experience. Absolutely fantastic experience and a must see for anyone even if art isn’t your usual thing. Really well laid out experience set in the Strand Theatre with amazing visuals and sounds. Designed to be viewed standing, sitting or lying down while the art of Van Gogh just wraps around you from walls to floor. Great combination of visual arts immerse within technology. Definitely art could never feel more real! Definitely recommend.”

Athol Cinemas 8
4.2
( 8 reviews )

265 Reservoir Dr, Athol, MA 01331, United States

”The theater itself is great Awesome reclining chairs, clean and spacious. The concessions, however, are just super expensive and the fried food takes a while if you order it. I do understand that movie theaters mainly profit off their concessions though.”

Historic Deerfield
4.6
( 8 reviews )

80 Old Main St, Deerfield, MA 01342, United States

”There were so many old buildings, it was like walking through a time machine. Except for the modern cars. Those were new. But the buildings! They were great. The entire district is small enough to walk easily, although I prefer taking a stroll. Maybe even a saunter. The newest building was built in, I believe, the 1880s, with many being much older than that. Except the one with is a rebuild from the 1920s if the faded marker in front is to be believed. To go into some of the historic houses, you'll need to buy tickets at the museum. But be careful as some if the houses are privately owned and you don't want to walk in on them. Also there are a couple of schools who own some land. Overall it was a very nice experience. They I will do again.”

The Witchery
4.8
( 16 reviews )

86 Wharf St, Salem, MA 01970, United States

”Me and my husband were celebrating our wedding anniversary the weekend before Halloween and this is such a fun activity to do! We loved making our own brooms! Such a unique activity! Loved having all the different options available to help create your master piece. It’s also nice having 2 teachers walk you through the process step by step and to also help assist when necessary! (Can get a little tricky!) CHECK THEM OUT! Highly recommend booking in advance - like we did but, if you can’t get in to make your own broom they also sell at home kits as well which is super cool!”

Cheapo Records

( 8 reviews )

538 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139, United States

”Great, great experience. AWESOME soul section. Just AWESOME. Picked up three great ones for quite reasonable prices. Dude who runs this knows what he's doing. This was the third shop I visited while in Boston, and wow did three times ever turn out to be the charm ! (Also hit two other, er, not even close competitor shops... see my reviews for details) If you're from out of town and your time is limited (as mine was), this is your money spot. Great selection, wicked good store! Much respect! 😁”

Echo Bridge

Newton, MA 02464, United States

”This is a hidden gem buried in the middle of Newton, MA. A must-see for those looking for sites off the beaten path. There is no great parking next to the bridge, so plan on parking up the street a ways off. There is a path running along …”

Robbins Library
4.8
( 8 reviews )

700 Massachusetts Ave, Arlington, MA 02476, United States

”Fantastic library with a wonderful selection of everything--books and movies (including a good number of foreign films and books), library of things, puzzles, even art to hang on your wall. The reading rooms are nice, and the children's room (which is a whole floor) is awesome. The staff is what really makes this library shine though. They provide reading recommendations, have put together a large number of themed "book bags" to check out if you wanted to learn a new hobby for example or wanted to check out new releases in graphic novel biographies. The children's librarians also put together custom "grab bags" for kids given an age and interest, which is how we have found many of our favorites.”
