They were extremely polite, attentive and professional. The atmosphere is amazing and all the guests seemed to be having a great time. I know we did. I would thoroughly recommend The Anchorage to anyone looking for a fantastic place to stay.”

“Absolutely beautiful stay with our two young children. We went to see the koalas every day, and after the tour on the first morning, we were able to spot them well on our own. We loved seeing the birds and dragonflies throughout the park as we went for a walk and waking up to the cacophony of bird song every morning. Less so a snake and lace monitor, but it's all nature. My husband was worried about the noise and smells being so close to the koalas, but we had absolutely no issues. Everything is clean and still feels brand new (opened in 2020). Staff are incredibly attentive throughout, especially Renee and the cleaners. The breakfast hamper was generous (see picture), and we were offered a refill on items halfway through our stay. Such a great place for families, the pool is well shaded, and two new umbrellas were added during our stay. Could do well to add a playground, even a natural one, to complement the surrounds”

“Perfectly situated hotel right in the centre of Newcastle. Only a very short walk to the main station and light rail. Parking was easy and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The rooms were okay, and the service was exceptional. For a holiday it was great, and I'd imagine for a business trip it'd tick all of the boxes too. Thank you!”

“We had a powered site on a double concrete slab just a short walk from the excellent facilities. Our only concern was we didn't realise that the bins were at the front near the entry gate. But once we found them all was good. The access to the beach is excellent and the cafe next to the lighthouse is great.”

“This hotel was in an amazing location! The hotel features were amazing and the staff were friendly. We stayed in a deluxe spa room. It was a great size and had a balcony, over looking the river. The bed was comfortable and excellent WiFi! The only downside was that the hotel didn't communicate with their guests, that NYE fireworks were being set off, from the hotels roof.... sudden banging noises were quite unsettling. (Would have also been nice to know, so we could have gone and watched them!)”

“This is our second year in a row staying on a powered site and this year, we found it even better than last. Before we arrived, they had blower cleaned the slab - very nice! Bathrooms were spotless as was everything else, including the laundry. The dog park is wonderful and a place we could throw the ball for our boy. The location is excellent and reception/check in process was seamless. Even though it was the height of school holidays, it was peaceful, quiet and a lovely environment. Highly recommend.”

“**POSITIVE** //LOCATION// The location is very suitable for a pool and beach, the weather was also very nice as it was not too hot or cold. //VIEW// It was very nice. **NEGATIVE** //JUMPING PILLOW// I didn't know that you had to be dry to go on the jumping pillow, I couldn't tell because the sign was very dull and had no paint on it. Should be updated in the future. //OTHER KIDS// The other kids here were very rude to my kids, calling my son a "ginger" The staff should put up a sign of they're expectations for children that go here because that was completely unacceptable. //ROOMS// The beds were extremely uncomfortable and dirty and the cleaners had put no effort into cleaning them properly. The sliding door to the main room didn't lock properly, staff were unaware of this and should pay more attention to this. Same thing for the door to the kids room.”

“We stayed at this hotel for a couple of days and the experience was not as per our expectations. The rooms were tidy and the hotel was surprisingly quiet given it's proximity to the highway but we were highly disappointed with the service. We found the staff rude, arrogant and completely lacking customer focus, not sure they treated as because of our skin color. We have stayed at other Best Western properties (mostly in the States) and our experience had been great so far except this one. Given the amount we spent here, I would perhaps skip this one on my next trip to Newcastle.”

“Overall I’d say it was pretty disappointing. The good points were: 1. We had a great pitch. It was in a great location (on the lagoon) and was a great size 2. Food trucks came into the park, which was awesome 3. The pool and splash parks were great for the kids 4. The bird wildlife was fantastic and the kids LOVED feeding them The not so good points: 1. The customer service was pretty poor and it genuinely seemed like customers were an inconvenience to them 2. The toilet and shower facilities were disgraceful, they really need cleaned more and a modern makeover would go a Lo g way too - see photo of a shower cubicle! 3. Although there is a kiosk, prices are ridiculous ($6 for 1 litre of water!) and the opening hours weren’t great 4. The pitch was crazy priced at $200 for powered tent site! Sorry Ingenia, but I won’t be rushing back or raving about it to friends”

Bed for me was too firm and pillows need replacing or take your own. My son said it was fine for him. Overall 3/5 but would stay again.”

“My experience with this motel was fabulous. The room had everything you would expect. Smart tv was also provided which entertained our family while in the room. The beds were super comfortable and also heated for winter. Apparently there was supposed to be a heated pool but that was never found but the outdoor pool was great fun for a relaxing end of day. Would recommend 👍.”

Facilities were very clean, well designed, however need to pay attention to beginnings of mould build up. “We had our wedding at Dry Ridge. The venue is beautiful, the staff are very helpful and accommodating and you can create your own personal style for your day. Tables and chairs are really good quality and beautiful meaning little decoration is needed. The prep kitchen has allot of space. The accommodation is spacious and you have all you need in the one place.”
