“I unfortunately am unable to give a good review on my stay at this hotel. Although the hospitality was great from the lady at the front desk, I found a bed bug crawling across the bed in my room on the 4th floor. I took pictures and videos and she confirmed that it was indeed a bed bug. To my knowledge no action has been taken to resolve the issue. I spoke with Hilton and they were supposed to get back in contact with me and I never heard back from them. Very disappointing because when I travel I always try to stay at a Hilton property.”

“I stayed here while I was in town for a wedding. The staff were very friendly and professional. While you could tell the location is a bit older, there has been an apparent effort to keep it updated. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was much appreciated because toting my 4-year-old to yet another place while trying to help with a wedding in a town I hadn't been to before would have been a nightmare. The only complaint I had was they ran out of milk halfway through their breakfast hours and my daughter really wanted some with her cereal. My favorite thing about my stay was that even though it was July and about a million degrees outside, they still had a selection of hot tea in the lobby which is my favorite way to start and end my day.”

“The amenities in the room were good. The area was quiet. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean. The bed was very comfortable. The pool was nice. The hot tub was not available for use. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I was able to get an extended check-out time at no extra charge. The breakfast was hot and had many options. There was sausage, waffles, eggs, cereal, oatmeal with a variety of toppings, muffins, pastries, bagels, coffee, juice, and yogurt. I will stay again. The price point was reasonable, considering the room has a kitchen and a living room area.”

“If you are expecting a typical Days Inn then you will be satisfied. The room I occupied was updated, comfortable, pretty clean and quiet. It had a nice fridge with separate freezer (great for ice packs) and a microwave. Room didn't have a desk but had a leather looking desk chair. There are several buildings in a kind of weird placement but it very well lit at night and felt safe. It looked like most occupants were typical travelers needing a 1 night stay. The breakfast was fast-food type biscuit, egg, sausage, gravy but it tasted pretty good. Also had milk, yogurt, cereal, bananas, oranges, juice, coffee. Downtown Athens, Athens University and surrounding homes a few miles away are very cute and worth a visit. I was there for the storytelling festival which was very nice.”

“I am a bit torn about this hotel. First of all, it is super inexpensive compared to other hotels in the same area. If you are traveling and need a hotel to spend the night at so that you can get back on the road quickly, this is great for that. The staff is seemingly great too - super nice and super friendly. They had a complementary snack in the room when I got there which was pretty nice. Besides that, there are some other problems with the hotel: The room was kind of dirty looking. It was not like a "they did not clean the room before I got there" kind of dirty but a "this is a really old hotel that has not been deep cleaned and refreshed in a while" kind of dirty. I did see a little baby roach. Breakfast was a little carb heavy, but that is somewhat expected for a cheap hotel. I noticed that another reviewer mentioned that it was pretty much in the middle of nowhere, and this is totally true. It took me about 15-20 minutes to drive up to the next town to go to a walmart to pick up some odds and ends. So while it was really underwhelming, I am not sure if the price balanced the cons. I think it might be worth an extra 10-20 dollars to get a hotel closer to Tuscaloosa if you are traveling along I 59.”

“Front desk staff was great! Jay was amazing and so was the lady working Thanksgiving evening. Both were super helpful and curteous. however, Housekeeping was non-existent! We requested service each night after we checked in on Tue. We received zero room cleaning/service from housekeeping for our entire stay. Thanks to front desk staff we did receive towels. Staying Thanksgiving week, it could be expected not to receive room cleaning on Thanksgiving, but NONE the entire stay was very disappointing.”

“I had no issue with staying in an accessible hotel room after being reassured that there were “many” accessible rooms available. So it was okay for me to have that room - cool, great. My concern is with the upkeep of accessible rooms: - Mini Fridge area. Chipped wooden shelf. - Broken/dented toilet roll holder. - Shower handle. Using the 2 headed shower was a bit complicated. The top head was difficult to turn and continued to spray on the wall. The 2nd head was attached to a rusted pole (at the top) - so wasn’t too keen to interact with it. A few areas of the tub were not clean - especially underneath the soap holder. - Bathroom sink area. Cracked sealant on both sides. Dirty bathroom sink overflow drain - Imagine sitting in a wheelchair and having constant visibility of black gunk. - Shampoo and Conditioner were up to high for folks who can't reach. - Would be great to have better lighting controls. Would be great to have better lighting in shower area - especially when the curtains are closed. Anyway, the main thing is - I would expect the same standard ("upscale accommodations") in accessible rooms. Yes, it has been a few years since I’ve stayed at Hilton Garden, but the room I stayed in this sure didn’t look like this. I enjoyed my stay then and looked forward to returning. This time, I felt like I was at a different hotel. My experience felt…dingy. Listen, I understand that newness wears off and times are different since the pandemic. I also understand that times are hard and folks be tired. Hope this is helpful.”

“The staff was friendly and courteous but the facility is in need of some updates. Doors not working well. Wallpaper and paint peeling. Musty smell throughout the hotel. Furniture upholstery both in the guest room and common areas is worn and cracked. Breakfast food was typically average quality. Coffee was VERY weak. I am a faithful Hilton customer and would consider returning but I will look at other area hotels before making a decision. Update: I was contacted concerning my stay and apologies were expressed for the issues I encountered during my stay. It is encouraging to see that they are trying to resolve issues. “When we first arrived everything seemed to be okay, the elevator seemed as if it was going to give out. The first room was clean to the eye but opened the fridge and there were roaches. They moved us to another room which was bigger but it had roaches as well and tub held water. It was walking distance from everything.”
