“After my nearby ShopRite closed (Autumn 2022), I have shopped at 3 different locations, depending on my itinerary. I like the Shop Rite in Southbury the best of all 3! It's clean, has a good hot buffet bar & hot grinders, good selection of cheeses, bakery products, and pre-packaged food. Sale items are in stock, even late in the week. And the cashiers have been friendly each and every time. I don't buy fish, meat or poultry, so I haven't had any of the unfortunate experiences some other reviewers have. For the items I purchase, I prefer this Shop Rite location for its cleanliness and selection.”

“The deli is the most inefficient and rude customer service point in town...let alone in the store. Terrible customer service!!! If I could award negative stars I would. This is not my summation based on 1 visit. I shop here every week, and have been longer than some of these kids have been alive. I expect bad service from the kids. This latest generation is the worst that i have seen. The real surprise is the older woman. She's as bad as the rest. Terrible experience and the only Big Y close to my house. Very disheartening after all the years I have shopped here.”

“Shoprite of Fairfield, CT is more like your friendly neighborhood food market than a supermarket chain. Everyone (everyone) working there is incredibly helpful and friendly. It is a throwback to the old days when you received a personal approach from your local small business because they truly care about you as a customer. They appear to start with people who love their job and then train them well. Their customer service culture is infectious and engaging. Their wide and good quality assortment of groceries is customized to local tastes and empathy for their customers and not only homogenized based on what their suppliers are promoting. The fresh and prepared departments are well stocked with higher quality products and the staff enjoys answering questions and explaining their products (especially the fresh fish department.) It's a "how can I help you" and not a "what do you want," approach throughout the store, including the fantastically pleasant and kind cashiers who talk with you like it was a country store.”

”Looks like a pretty decent grocery store, I'm from out of town so this is what was near. Seem clean, organized. The cashiers were super friendly. I only found one cart sitting in the middle of the parking lot, the rest made it to the corral. (Abandoned carts in the parking lot is one of my pet peeves). It's not familiar to me like Kroger, Food Lion or Publix, but I came, I saw, I bought and I left. All good.”

”The Bakery department is an absolute joke. I placed a very specific order for a cake that was for a special event I was hosting. I came IN STORE to order it, exactly when I was advised to by another associate. I was called THE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT to be notified that they would be cancelling my order. They had not even started the cake and they had told me the cake decorator wouldn’t even be in until the day of my event!!!! I WAS FURIOUS. SUPER SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNPUNCTUAL!!!”

”Drove 1 hr to this store bc I called and they said they have a kosher butcher. The have a kosher counter but no fresh cuts of chicken. They had a few steaks only. I will insert photos all empire chicken and some other prepackaged brands. Looks like they had fresh rotisserie chicken cooking behind the counter but it was not ready yet. There is a small freezer section with fish sticks and large pre wrapped empire turkey. They also have a kosher aisle with ramen soups and many sauces. They have kosher prepared food and the bakery is pas Yisroel and parve, and dairy foods. Definitely sign up for the store card I saved $15 at checkout but you must go to customer service to sign up. The people who work there are really nice as well. Overall I wouldn’t make the drive out here again for kosher meat possibly for the bakery though, everything looked so delicious!”

”Went to the Big y in Monroe Ct. at the end of Dec, 2023, to buy cannoli dip. The container I picked up seemed light to me, considering it said it weighed 1.02 lbs. All the other containers on the shelf felt light too. I took it to a vegetable scale and weighed it and it was light. See photo. When I tried to address the issue in the bakery, the woman was extremely defensive and not understanding what I was telling her. She said the scale is not wrong, the price is the price. I then went to the service desk and explained the problem again and was able to communicate with the bakery that the wrong weights were put on every single package. The Baker person was so intent on speaking loud and over the top of me, she didn't hear what I was saying. Very rude.”

”To much self check out!!! It's one thing when you have a few items. Atleast include bags if I'm being forced to work as a cashier. There's a reason why big box stores put a limit on self checkout because it is not efficient when you have huge orders. And the one register you keep open doesn't have a convayor I feel bad for the employees that have to shuffle a whole cart load of items over the counter. I'd rethink this whole self checkout. If I'm spending $300-500 every 2 weeks I'd atleast want to have a person checking me out. I'm sure others would agree. Technology isn't always the answer!”

”Bought some papers at customer service desk today. After paid, asked woman if I could get change for a $10. She gleefully and smugly told me they were not allowed to give out change. Really? Maybe just grabby and too lazy to re-open register. She told me to go across the street. Not helpful and plain rude. After I left, it occurred to me I should have asked for the manager, who I’m sure would have been able to help. Of course, she never offered to solve my request, too busy blowing me off to talk to her co-worker. Wish I knew her name, I would gladly post it.”
