”Let me start by saying how lovely the lobby is and the hotel itself. Our room was large, spacious and well laid out. Loved the bathroom design. We were very comfortable there after a long drive. Now for the criticism. I have been in more comfortable beds. It was too soft and squishy. I have to say the pillows are awful. I expected much better pillows so didn’t bring my own in from the car. That was so disappointing. They were hard and lumpy. Additionally, the shower was lukewarm. Thankfully warm enough to shower but truly not hot. BTW, we are staying in a Tru Hilton right now and the beds are very comfortable and the pillows are as close to my own so it wasn’t necessary to bring ours in. I think all of the above are complaints that the hospitality industry are loathe to hear. After all, there’s nothing like a good nights sleep. I hope they can make some improvements to this beautiful hotel.”

”Nice hotel at a good price. It's what you expect from a Hampton Inn, which is good. Rooms were clean. We could hear a lot of jumping around from the room above us but it calmed down by bedtime. Breakfast was good for a basic free meal. Eggs and sausage were OK but at least it was not just carbs. OK location but the rooms either overlooked a mobile home park or a hardware store. It was within walking distance of the Old Mystic Village and the aquarium.”

”My husband and I stayed at this hotel from December 28, 29 2023. The front desk staff was nice, knowledgeable and helpful. As we're the restaurant staff. I liked the location. It has a restaurant inside the hotel and a Chili's restaurant right next door. The room was not really to my liking because there was a smell upon entering the room and the water pressure from the shower head was horrible and trying to turn the water on in the tub area was a struggle. I would've ask for another room but I was so frustrated from our luggage being sent to another state....I just dealt with the hotel issues. And it is a 3 star hotel not a 4 or 5 star.... And I'm sure if I had asked I would've been given another room because again the staff on both shift were very nice! I wouldn't mind staying here again if I were to visit that part of Connecticut.”

The room itself was located in the motel section and faced the very busy road. It was loud all night! The beds were very squeaky and uncomfortable. Like sleeping on a trampoline...lol we also had to move them away from the wall as the headboard bangs every time you move. Besides that, everything was great, especially the breakfast and bar!”

”Can't say enough AMAZING things about Hotel Marcel. From the 5am check-in, to the restaurant, to the rooms, and especially the staff. Our time here was the best hotel all around experience we have probably ever had. The rooms are impeccably clean and the materials used during construction are very stylish and of high end quality. The rooms have all the latest technology and everything functions like it should. Food in the restaurant was great, as was the service. Brian at the desk went above and beyond, definitely a legend compared to so many front desk experiences in the past. The lovely girl that checked us in was also super sweet and very accommodating, I unfortunately did not catch her name. Long review because they deserve much praise, in today's environment, they are a standout breath of fresh air. I have looked at this historical building since I was a child and to see what they were able to turn it into and have the opportunity to stay, was a honor 🎖 Keep up the awesome work Hotel Marcel!!!”

”This hotel was satisfactory, not anything to write home about. One good thing is that it is clean. However, the continental breakfast was not included with the price of the room and was a separate charge for each member of the family. And the breakfast was sub-par. The pool/spa was out of commission, and the business center was the only place to get water from a cooler, which itself was broken. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were as flat as cardboard, giving know head support at all. This small hotel is in need of a face-lift and remodeling.”

”DO NOT STAY HERE until construction is completed, unless you have the forbearance of Christ! I wasn't informed of the major construction until the day prior to my arrival, which left me with little opportunity to find another hotel. The paint fumes gave me a headache. I almost chose a third floor room but thankfully chose one on the second floor. Turns out the elevators are in accessible from the ground floor, unless you park in the back—which no one suggested to me until I saw someone coming out of the elevator a while into my stay. I was simply told I couldn’t use the elevators. Instead, I had to lug my luggage up and down the stairs because you can’t get from the elevators on the first floor to the lobby without walking around the building outside; and it was very cold during my stay. Because I wasn't given any clue as to the areas under construction, I chose a room on the far end of the hotel and had to walk almost the entire length of the hotel from where I could access the stairs. In every other Hilton hotel I’ve been recognized for my loyalty as a Hilton Honors Member, but not in this hotel. I’ve stayed with Hilton through some not exemplary experiences, and I’ve appreciated that being acknowledged. And with this woeful incident yet before me when I checked in, a sincere thank you would have meant a lot. I don’t think it was the fault of the woman at the makeshift front desk, who was new, as much as a matter of poor training. I only received two bottles of water, which felt cheap on the hotel's part in light of the problems with the hotel. There was no attempt at compensating me for the obvious inconvenience due to the construction.”

”We loved our stay! Our family of 4, my sister-in-law and her family of 5, and my in-laws stayed for Thanksgiving. It was totally swamped with vacationers as well as a traveling hockey team and their families, but the staff there rode the wave and had smiles on their faces the whole time. Most notably Shannon at the front desk and Aaron the night guy really made it a great stay. Small things like a smile and a hello or coordinating a soup and beer/wine night made the stay very enjoyable. Highly recommend!”
