“This was our second year at Big Pine Key Resort, and there have been improvements made to the campground, which include much needed additional staffing and campsites that have enhanced our experience. The staff is stellar with their customer service and responsiveness, diplomacy and handling and managing hundreds of campers on a daily basis. the grounds are maintained by a fantastic and capable staff, including but not limited to Andy, Scott and Cameron! Front desk staff was most excellent, and I really enjoyed interacting with Savannah, Trish, Melissa and Colleen on a daily basis. They are top-notch! “Ah, Copper Creek -- it's the mountainous, log-cabin feel that just has that relaxing vibe to it. We are timeshare owners and this is our "home". We love the exquisite interior that has that woodsy feel. I spent time relaxing at the pool and loved our view from the balcony. At night, Magic Kingdom's fireworks are easily viewed from our balcony (we had a pool view but one that "faced" Magic Kingdom). We spent time here to visit our college student and before heading out on a cruise. It was (and always is) very relaxing with quick bite meals, all the way up to higher end and higher priced meals. Everyone from the check-in to the gift shop cast members were super nice and always ready to assist. Great nights sleep with a couple days of just pure relaxation.”

”We stayed here recently for a private event. The rooms were cute. I love the retro fridge and microwave. The beds were comfortable. They didn't have enough outlets in my opinion and figuring out the overhead lights was confusing. The shower curtains are not long enough, so the floor got soaked every time we showered. The pool are was great. It has a Tiki island vibe which we loved. All the staff was great and overall we really enjoyed our stay.”

”My husband & I have been coming to Welaka Lodge for 7 years. We always enjoyed the old Florida atmosphere and the cozy cabins. I’m very sad to say that this time (Nov 17, 2023) was VERY different. We were greeted by roaches in the kitchen & bathroom. The toilet was loose on the floor due to rusted bolts (they did come out and fix this) the shower head leaked, the hot water constantly ran out, the finial on the railing at the front porch was not secure making an extreme safety issue, the ice maker didn’t work, we couldn’t get the stove to work and when we called and left a message at the office, no one ever returned our call... turns out the front burner wasn’t working. The floors were so filthy that the bottoms of our feet were black. I literally took pictures and showed them to the lady in the office and I heard every excuse in the book. What happened to this place? It’s gone downhill with the new management. They advertise the boat bar and yet when we went there, the girls behind the bar never even acknowledged us, we left and took our business to Shrimps R Us... and shared our experience with several other people there. Sadly, we won’t be returning. We didn’t plan for and spend our hard earned money to go and live in filth. Happy to be back home in Port Orange!”

”We recently stayed here as part of our Thousand Trails membership. $20 on top of the membership per night seems a bit unnecessary based on the location and sites. The only extra benefit we saw was the availability of cable TV. The grove sites were closed due to no power which limited the site availability. The campground is also located in Deep South Miami in the Redwood Agricultural District. It’s a drive to get to tourist areas if that’s what you’re looking for. The plus is Biscayne and Everglades National Parks are both fairly close.”

”We lived there for 3 months (July-September) and were very happy with our stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful when approached, otherwise respectful of your privacy. Their pool and laundry center are both very clean, which was appreciated during our stay. I felt safe going for a morning jog behind the gate. They are still working to recover from the hurricane and I think they're doing a wonderful job. The tennis courts are currently being rebuilt and I think they'll have the community center open during season, which looks like it would be a lot of fun. If we ever need a long term spot in the area, we will be back!”

”I booked the aquanaut package with the lodge months ago and have been looking forward to my stay. Because of bad weather, an activity I had reserved for the days leading up to my stay at the lodge was canceled. So, I thought I would call the lodge today to see if they had room for me a day or two earlier than I had planned. The person I initially spoke to said she wasn't sure if they could accommodate me arriving early but would check with her boss. I told her that was fine but that it wasn't a big deal if they couldn't fit me in early and I would see them on my scheduled arrival date. I used those exact words: "No big deal." I received a call from Teresa a few minutes later. After customary phone greetings, she abruptly launched into a long reprimand regarding "this is why [they] ask guests to plan ahead" and if I was "having a hard time...". Dumbfounded, I finally cut her off and told her no one was having "a hard time" but then asked what they do for guests who can't make it to the lodge after their deposit refund window has ended because my desire to visit the lodge at that point was nonexistent. When Theresa said the trip could be rescheduled for a later date without even selecting a future date, I took that offer as I have no desire to give the lodge any more of my money at this time. I am regretful that I ever gave the lodge a dime as I have no interest in ever completing my booking at this point.”

”I'm sorry but this is not what I expected. Room 210 then 207 same thing. I wish I could post the pictures I took 1- the bed is wabely and very noisy. 2- all the furniture is old. 3- sofa was covered with a sheet because of the stains on it. 4- A/C is loud. 5-There was no ice bucket. 6- The window blinds have openings that you can see in from outside. 7- mattress is very very old and not even a queen size. 8- The classtop stove was cracked 9- the whole hotel went into total darkness.No electric power, had to eat diner in total darkness. 10- roaches in the first room and roaches in the second room they move us to. And I have pictures to prove it. 11- some kind of dirty towel was left behind the toilet. ****************** Positive about this place... 1-The pool is ok 2-The lady in the front desk was very pleasant and try to help us. 3- I'm disable and I serve this great country of ours. But a first floor room was impossible to obtain. AND THAT'S IT. WILL I STAY HERE AGAIN.? NO... I RATHER PAY MORE AND STAY AT ANOTHER HOTEL. This was to celebrate our anniversary and was disappointed 😔”
