“We arrived at the hotel with a lot of luggage. There were 2 hotel employees standing outside at the valet stand and neither one greeted us or offered any help with the luggage. Not a big deal but a sign of the type of service we could expect. When we got to the room it looked nice and the water view was beautiful. But then we found the remote was sticky. The floor was sticky. Water pressure terrible. Paper thin walls. Room next door had at least 10 people having an extremely loud party. We called downstairs, they said they’d call security, but we were kept awake until around 2:30 because of the noise. In the morning we were trying to leave but our car was blocked in for 15 min because the valet left 2 cars blocking the only exit.”

“I stayed here for two nights with my 5 yo daughter. We had a great stay. I love this location. Close to the hotspots of south beach, but just off the beaten path of crazy… and still right on the beach. The room was wonderful (1 bedroom king suite) except the windows didn’t open. Special shout out to Andre at the front desk who was a perfect blend of kindness and professionalism. He offered us a new room for our second night, but packing up and moving seemed like a lot , so we stayed in our very comfortable room. The hotel was clean and well appointed. The happy hour offered some of the best value I’ve found in a high end Hilton in a major city. I had a misunderstanding with my Hilton Diamond food credit and Debra accommodated me thoughtfully. Good pool area. This is an expensive hotel, a little higher end than others I’ve stayed in on the beach, but it was worth the extra for me. Highly recommended.”

“We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. I was a little hesitant because of the reviews. In fact, I warned my son and husband that it would be loud especially because we were there over New Year’s Eve. I couldn’t believe how quiet our room was and how much we liked the room. The mattress, pillows, towels were all very nice. We didn’t use the valet as it seemed really expensive, so we parked our car in the garage across from the surface lot. The garage charges $12 per day. We got drinks at the bar and were a little surprised to see a “credit card recovery fee”. The drinks at the bar are pricey enough, why are they acting like a small town gas station and charging a credit card fee. That is the price of doing business. Also, the bartenders didn’t seem very happy. Maybe everyone yelled at them about the fee. It was only $1.39. Doesn’t seem worth the bad will. We will definitely stay here again. I liked Ybor a lot as it has a nice small town feel. Tampa was also great but I am glad we didn’t stay downtown. I loved this location.”

”Beautiful hotel, terrible front desk staff. This is a BEAUTIFUL hotel! The lobby and rooms are wonderful. The non-valet parking is fairly sparse and a bit of a walk, but we always found a spot. We had both in room dining and ate in the restaurant and weren’t very impressed by either. We did eat at the Henderson one evening and the food and service there were excellent! The rooftop pool and bar at Hotel Effie are very nice and add to the premium feel of the property. The spa services were top notch. The front desk staff are very rude, act as though they are the guests at this premium hotel, rather than servicing people’s needs and were generally aggravating and non helpful. There were unauthorized bar charges on my bill and when I asked the front desk to research, the tall female staffer with a foreign accent who “assisted” me made me feel as though I were lying until she finally apologized and credited the charges back. I was so insulted that I asked to speak to a manager and she stated the managers weren’t available. We loved our stay there, but won’t be back due to the staff’s attitude and terrible customer service.”

”DO NOT STAY HERE. EVER. THERE WAS ALMOST A FIRE DUE TO PROPERTY NEGLECT. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. Our stay was completely unacceptable. Filthy rooms, mold, cold water, smoke alarm going off in the middle of the night, bugs, shower and sink drain completely clogged, ripped furniture from the 1990s. None of this was even the worst part. After making a complaint on Wednesday about the water, plugged drains, and smoke alarm going off in the middle of the night, nothing was done and no one followed up. Our last night, there was almost AN ELECTRICAL FIRE because of the properties NEGLECT. We were about to go to sleep when my partner thought he heard a noise. Went to find the source and found smoke POURING out of the water heater. Called the front desk right away, was told they'd "send someone" around 11pm. Luckily, we had access to the breaker, so we turned it off. We waited THIRTY PLUS MINUTES. If we didn't have access to the breaker there would have been a fire! If we'd gone to sleep earlier there would have been a fire! Their policy and untrained employees in an emergency situation is UNACCEPTABLE. The neglected and plugged up AC line caused the water to drip onto our water heater. We were VERY lucky we weren't hurt or even killed. Took over an hour to be reassigned to a new room. NO ONE from the property has contacted us after I requested. After I called, I was sent to the robot line instead of being directed to a person. DO NOT EVER STAY HERE. A manager needs to contact me immediately.”
