“This review is for the restaurant only. I have visited previously and enjoyed a lovely breakfast on my way through. However, this visit was for dinner and it was not so good an experience. An entree sized main of lamb arrived lukewarm and over done. When the waiter asked if everything was ok I mentioned the lamb was overcooked and even gristly. Nothing transpired as a result. I think $48 is a price that warrants a fine dish, and it just wasn't. The view is spectacular and the space is beautiful but on this occasion the food did not meet the required standard.”

“We had our wedding at The Mercure on 2/9/23 and it was amazing. Everything looked beautiful, everything was clean, the staff were all very lovely. They price for a Wedding there is among the cheapest we had found and it was a one stop shop. Ceremony, Reception, Photos and accommodation all on site. We had Nadia as our event coordinator and she was incredible. Gave us ideas we hadn't thought of but also total creative freedom for the space. She even went on the hunt the night before for my favourite wine. She is the perfect coordinator.”

“Stayed here for New Years. We booked a room for 2 with the balcony and requested to get a room with city view so we could see the Fireworks. We got what we asked for. Room was beautiful, very clean & sound proof. Everything we needed was there. Room service was amazing. Pool, food, drinks with in the hotel were fantastic. The best bed I've ever slept in! So luxurious, felt like you were on cloud 9. Even the Shower was Fantastic! Water pressure was great. Body wash, Shampoo, Conditioner & Body lotion were great quality & smelled amazing. They were in large 500ml bottles with pumps, you'd never run out. I would buy them for home if they sold them. Anything we needed was brought up to our room. Lots of food places walking distance from the hotel. On new years, felt like we were part of a huge New Years party. On the balcony we could see appartments and felt like whole Melbourne was screaming Happy New Year! Watching Fireworks! Great atmosphere to celebrate 2024! Ones we closed the balcony doors, we were away from it all & couldn't hear anyone. Absolutely 5 stars stay! Thank you to all Booking, Reception, Room Service & Restaurant staff for making our stay so fantastic. “We only had two days in Warrnambool but we loved our stay at this hotel. All the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and they clearly enjoy their work. The room was absolutely spotless and the bed was lovely and comfortable. It's a great location for walking to the beach, the RSL and the town centre. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, both meals were good quality with a decent range of food and local wines on the menu. Staff in the restaurant are knowledgeable about the food and wines and happy to make amendments to meals where possible. We always stay here when we are in Warrnambool as we find the service and level of amenities are consistently high. Thanks for making our short holiday extra special.”

They also have a great selection of drinks at the bar and decent food and service at the restaurant. An institution in bridge road! The location is great as there are lots of nature and all that you need at the door front as well as the capital city trail next to the river for walking. Also Creswick reserve is not too far!”

When we arrived we were greeted by a very helpful and knowledgeable member of staff at reception who pointed out good walking trails and some suggestions for where we might like to eat. We stayed in the Captain's Cottage (one of several chalet-like options at the property) and were welcomed with a selection of treats, including some adorable local chocolates. Breakfast was delicious and served in a well presented room with fascinating local details. Altogether, a really well-run hotel with great attention to detail. “Apartments are very spacious and staff are friendly and willing to help. Great location, close to great restaurants and easy to get on trams. Only down side is the air-conditioning did not work and the room was very warm. Staff acknowledged Air con was not working and they gave us a pedestal fan ( obviously this happens regularly as they had the fans ready to go) which did not help as the room had heated up over the day. We shifted to another room and was reassured that the Air con in this room was working, which it wasn't. This room was just as warm. We weren't the only ones having trouble with the temperature of rooms. As I was asking at the front desk about temperature they received a call from another guest stating their AC was not working. It was as shame this happened as everything else at the apartments was excellent and the staff tried the best the could.”

“Upon entering the hotel, an immediate sense of discomfort overwhelmed us, starting with an unprepared check-in at 2:00 pm. The lifts, not meeting safety standards were a real concern which added to the uneasy feeling. Once in our rooms, the atmosphere was dreary, with a pervasive smell of smoke masked by cheap perfume. The soft, uncomfortable beds and a non-functional room phone further marred our experience. Booked three rooms, and each fell short of satisfaction. Despite the unsatisfactory conditions and a departure in less than an hour, the hotel insisted on charging the full fare upon cancellation. This policy, combined with the disappointing experience, adds to the overall dissatisfaction with the establishment. The situation was truly disheartening. Despite requesting a room change due to these issues, the inspection merely involved more deodorant spraying. The breaking point was a dirty dishwasher, leading us to leave this disappointing establishment. This hotel warrants serious reconsideration.”

Instead, it had a QR code to scan and order via room service between certain hours. That is odd and inconvenient as it defeats the purpose of having snacks and drinks at disposal during odd hours. The hotel doesn't have pool either. Lastly, and most importantly, the hotel advertises it has spa and jacuzzi under amenities, but it turner out this was misleading as it turned out that they are available in selected rooms only. So, it was quite disappointing!”
