“What a cool place to stop along the drive on Higheay 20. The majestic views are amazing. The road is good and views are plenty. Lots of places to pull out for your viewing and photographic pleasures. The leaves are a changing and the colors are beautiful. We plan to visit again. You'll like it I guarantee it.”

“Old growth magic! So many different trail areas in this little gym of a hiking. Any equestrian park that is so close to downtown Bellevue and always one of my favorite spots to see old growth wilderness. An incredible place for family hikes with large open areas as well with picnic tables and amenities. This is a great place to get away for a day either by yourself or with a family. It is one of my favorite places when the rains come and new mushrooms are about 🍄💚🍄”

Forest Rd 99, Cougar, WA 98616, United States

“There's a fantastic view of Mount St Helens from this location. It's highly recommended! Bring your mountain bike and hit the trail making your way to the Abraham flats area. Don't forget your Northwest Forest pass and make sure that you are at least an intermediate mountain bike rider. Hit the trail on a partly cloudy day for a fantastic view of the Cascades.”

Rasar State Park

( 16 reviews )

38730 Cape Horn Rd, Concrete, WA 98237, United States

“This is a STUNNING park. So beautiful, with sandy river beaches, lush forest, a meadow, and surrounded by mountains. An employee we talked to here was kind enough to answer some questions we had. The walking trails and land itself are well taken care of. I would absolutely come back to this park.”

Kopachuck State Park

10712 56th St NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98335, United States

”A great beach for exploring at low tide! Soooooo many sand dollars & sea stars. Lots of sea life here. We’ve also seen seals very close to shore. It’s a bit of a trek to the beach, but worth it if you like exploring the intertidal area.”

Mt. Rainier Gondola

Close until 09:00 AM

33914 Crystal Mountain Blvd, Enumclaw, WA 98022, United States

”You can catch some early snow without much rush at Crystal Mt. The ride was pretty smooth. Though we had booked the ticket and parking, there was not much rush and plenty of parking was available. They have buses from parking lot to the base, so you could really park anywhere on any parking lot. We actually drove to parking lot A, B, C and the finally parked in road side and caught a bus. Buses are every 5 min so there is no need to walk at all. If you have to book the parking prefer getting a parking permit for parking lot A, which is the only parking lot that is nearest to base and you don’t have to park in muddy field (rest of the lots are all muddy). Gandola ride fun.. We caught the ride up, stayed for 5 min as none of were prepared for temperature at the top and we don’t know skiing. You need proper gears at the top to even walk around in snow. We got on the next car back to the base. There is low elevation slope at the bottom and rental place at the base which is good for kids to enjoy.”

Hurricane Ridge

( 16 reviews )

Washington 98362, USA

”Omg! Feels like you’re on top of the world! This is an amazing place. We tried 3 times to go up in 2023 and this was always closed due to wildfires. Currently they are losing 430 cars to go up and at 9:40 we were car 190. It was so worth it! Loved the trail walk, the view is breathtaking!”

Columbia Hills Historical State Park

”There is some really old stuff there and a boat launch at the river. Nice lake too”

Jarrell Cove State Park

( 8 reviews )

391 E Wingert Rd, Shelton, WA 98584, United States

”Bridge or boat access only. Hiking trails, clean bathrooms with electric plug-in, Free shower, amphitheatre, picnic tables, grills/fire rings. The trails lead to 2 separate docks for boat moorage and branches off in other directions. When the tide is out you can walk from one dock and there is a path along the shoreline that leads to another. Excellent calm water for kayaking - I saw no swimmer's, probably because the water is so cold. There are secluded campsites as well as out-in-the-open spaces. Group campsites are also available. Some are first come first serve and other's require a reservation. Only a few campsites with electricity. Very well maintained grounds. Outdoor water spigots and garbage cans, plus a good sized grass field.”

Deception Falls

( 8 reviews )

Washington 98288, United States

”It is so beautiful and peaceful!! We were staying in Skykomish and came across deception falls. Very easy hike with amazing views of the falls, streams, and forest. I have back issues and was able to do the whole loop with no issues. There are restrooms in the parking lot, and the trail takes you in a loop, so you end back in the same parking lot, taking either entrance. If you are in the area, I recommend it!”

South Whidbey State Park
4.5
( 8 reviews )

4128 S Smugglers Cove Rd, Freeland, WA 98249, United States

”Nice selection of trails and beach front. Leashed-pet friendly but no bark ranger program. The stairs to the beach are temporarily unavailable, but they’ve installed some rope to help guide hikers from the trail to the beach. Nice area for a short visit.”

Heart O' The Hills Campground
4.6
( 8 reviews )

2823 S Oak St, Port Angeles, WA 98362, United States

”This was by far the best campground I have ever stayed out. We came here after ditching Fairholme campground because it was too noisy. We showed up at 11am on a Friday and half of E loop was empty. We stay in site 91 which is nicely tucked at the end of the loop away from the road and other campsites. The site itself has excellent privacy from other sites around. The loop was 25%-50% and we felt like we were alone. It was so quiet we could sleep without the noise machine we needed at Hoh and Mora campgrounds. You really feel like you're in the trees. You are far from the restroom which is shared with C loop. Be aware that there were a ton of mosquitoes so bring bug spray or a candle. Another pro is you are 20 minutes from Hurricane Ridge and 25 minutes from Hurricane Hill. Right now the road to Hurricane Ridge is limiting the amount of cars up the top. However if you stay at the campground you get to go up ever after the road is closed to everyone else. You are also 15 minutes from Port Angeles if you run out of supplies. Honestly would recommend 100000%”

Boulder Cave Trail
4.6
( 8 reviews )

3210 Old River Rd, Naches, WA 98937, United States

”An enjoyable hike, good for families with some beautiful sights. The portion to the pictured waterfall is more of a scramble with some rock hopping, each child will need a adult helper. It is located upriver from the cave entrance. Nice picnic area near the parking lot. Another enjoyable trail along Naches River from this parking lot. This area requires a reservation ($7).”

Dougan Falls

17361 Washougal River Rd, Washougal, WA 98671, United States

”Pretty remote location in the middle of September when the summer crowds have long gone. Located at the literal end of Washougal River Rd. Wide parking area. Nice place to take a break and plan your trek into the back country.”

Bogachiel State Park
4.4
( 8 reviews )

185983 US-101, Forks, WA 98331, United States

”Do not pay to stay here they are charging way to much for the smallest campsites when there is four free to stay parks near by and their handicap accessible bathrooms are not accessible the seat in one is chained to the wall to keep you from using it as it is broken and they refuse to fix it as well as neither of the handicap bathrooms have hot water at all. My husband is disabled and we were forced to use the too small main bathrooms recently when there was no hot water and no way for him to safety use the shower in there. They are charging way too much to not be able to fix simple issues like no hot water in two bathrooms and a handicapped seat in a shower falling out of the wall.”
