“Stayed overnight Friday 15th Dec . Can't praise the place enough. Staff in the restaurant (booked for the festive menu) and bar were on the ball. Live entertainment in the bar was great and got everyone in a real Christmas party mood. Our room was Masons (every room is named for a brand of gin )The room was immaculate with every need catered for. Being at the front, we had beautiful views over open countryside. Breakfast was tasty and very filling. Set us up for the day. Will definitely be back. Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, Devonshire Arms.”

“What a fantastic hotel!! Check in was seamless and pleasant. Room, though a little smaller than what I am used to, was charming, had everything I needed, and had been immaculately cleaned. A lovely modern bathroom with a heated floor - wonderful. The restaurant here is a very high standard, with a varied menu, my starter and main course where cooked perfectly. Breakfast is cooked to order and again was high quality. Throughout my stay, all the staff where very professional, friendly and helpful, I will definitely be returning when in the area again. Can't recommend high enough.”

“The room was lovely and very clean, the spa was wonderful and the therapists made sure we had the most relaxed time possible during and after our massage. All facilities were kept very clean and tidy and the staff were always happy to help. The evening meal, the service was very slow (40 mins for drinks) and the food was not what you would expect for the price (or the hour wait). Breakfast was lovely, very quick service and a great filling full English. Overall a lovely experience.”

“Room2 delivered a unique and fun experience compared to other hotels. The concept of "feeling like home" was interesting. The service received was on point, staff are willing to help and the WhatsApp service for requests worked well. The atmosphere of the café was lovely. Absolutely beautiful hot chocolate. Parking was okay. We paid £13 for a reservation there for one night. It should generally be a lower price though. The spaces were tight and limited. In terms of the room, there were plenty of positives but a few negatives. Firstly, the beds were comfortable and the views over the park were lovely. We could see the ships in the distance! The bathroom was clean and the little motivating messages were cute. It's a small thing, but it makes a difference to the feel of the room! The shower had good pressure and good temperature and was easy to use. However, the vent in the bathroom was not working so it got very steamy in there and even in the rest of the room. To the owner, make sure the vents are working as it can make people quite dizzy with the trapped steam! Room facilities included a hair dryer, ironing board, kettle, dishwasher, radio, TV and mini fridge. The main bed was good, no issues with it at all. However, in the loft area I was slightly disappointed. Whilst the actual concept was cool, the mattress had hairs and paint stains all over it. Of course, it wasn't the sheets that had that but it just made it feel awkward to sleep there. There's a good storage area in the loft just for phones, glasses and sockets to use for charging. But it was very dusty, there was a sticky stain in the back on the wall. Not sure what it was. So, just a few little things that need to be considered. Because it is a loft area, it's high up so it can get dusty so to the owner, please ensure it's cleaned thoroughly so it is as comfortable as possible. Otherwise, no problems. The location is good, it was a 12 minute walk to the shopping centre (WestQuay) and the harbour was just there. Overall, I did enjoy my stay and I did feel how the hotel stands out from others. Check out at 2PM is perfect and well thought. Rooms were unique and fun to chill out in. Just make sure to tidy up those little problems so the hotel can reach its full potential. Thanks!”

“Absolutely beautiful hotel, I had a one night stay with my mum and it was extremely comfortable and dressed beautifully for Christmas. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived so we were given complimentary tea and biscuits in the game bird restaurant whilst we waited, all of the staff were very polite, attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for any of them. The hotel is situated on a quiet and secluded street which is only a 4 minute walk through the park to the Ritz and lots of shops. If you're visiting London this hotel is a must and I would highly recommend it to anyone”

“We were so delighted with the accommodation at Stable cottage, it went far beyond our expectations as we arrived on 23rd Dec and there was a lovely Christmas tree, decorations and homemade mince pies & cream. The hosts went above and beyond with the addition of toiletries and treats. The furniture, decor and beds linens were high quality as was all the kitchen equipment. Couldn’t fault our stay and would like to visit in the summer months when we could explore the hills of neighbouring Dartmoor.”

“Booked a A la carte Dinner, bed and breakfast. We were given a sofa with a bar menu, forget about and had to find staff to order dessert and drinks which never came but we’re on the bill. No real apology and not what was expected from such a beautiful building. We stayed in the lodge which was lovely but staying on the ground floor, the noise from the floor boards above was very loud as were the voices. Bathroom mirror needs to be bigger and lit. Breakfast was nice. Could be a very nice place with the correct management”

“We held our post Wedding Dinner here, the service was fantastic and they managed to accommodate all 26 of us even after a Plumbing leak had lead to the original room being unavailable. The alternative room and atmosphere they created was amazing and hats off to the whole team especially Hannah and Kim who organized it all. For those also looking for an event venue this is a great place to choose in Royston and has two set menu's of options to choose from. I can testify that Set Menu A was not only amazing but all of our group loved it. We also had a couple of our group staying at Banyers House as well and they enjoyed their over night stay.”

“Fantastic Guesthouse. Lovely hoteliers Zed and Emma. Their team are amazing. My stay of 3 nights has been great, very energetic by way of 8 flights of stairs to my fourth floor bedroom but absolutely fabulous. My single room overlooked the sea front and views as far as the eye can see. The breakfast of choice has been amazing, plenty of choice from the cold buffet and lovely hot cooked food to follow. I had a private shower and toilet seperate from my room but it wasn't a problem. The cleanliness of the hotel was second to none. If you drive you can pay a small fee and just park your car near to the hotel. Great !! I think it would be a great choice if you were to stay for your vacation here you will love it.”

“The Fox and Coney is a really nice traditional village pub. There is a nice large front bar which is quite cozy. There is a wide choice of beers lager and ciders including some excellent cask conditioned hand pulled real ales. The real ale was perfect when i visited. At the back of the pub is a large dining room which was very busy when I called in, the pub has a very good reputation for its meals. I didn't have any food but I checked out the menu, and I will definitely be back with the family for something to eat. The staff are very friendly, there's a nice outside covered seating area and car park to the rear.”

“Have to give a mention to this gorgeous cafe we stumbled across on our visit to Grasmere. Didn't know where to eat and took a chance but so glad we did. The service was fantastic and the owner so friendly. Great value for money compared to most places in The Lakes with good, hearty portions which is what's needed after a hike up the hills! They also catered for Vegans which is hard to find. The food was piping hot and delicious! Lovely works of art inside to either admire or purchase. Great all round cafe! Will definitely go back!! 💚🌿”
