“A lovely 4 night stay in a spacious dog friendly lodge with hot tub. Pleasant surroundings, in the middle of the countryside, very quiet, nice walks. Enjoyed the gym, hydro pool, steam room and sauna. Pleasant restaurant with dog friendly section, service a little slow considering how quiet it was. Lodge itself was clean, modern with an abundance of hot water…very cosy. Could do with more towels for hot tub use and a mop to dry the floor after use…it’s quite a walk to the showers. All in all a really great place, would be happy to return and recommend.”

“Well, what can I say about Beachside? We simply LOVE this place. The accommodation is great for what we need it for - we opt for bungalows. The views are simply superb, and the beach is stunning on sunny days. The on-site shop and restaurant are really handy too, but we only used them once. We stayed for 10-days and it really felt like a home from home. Would strongly advise Beachside to anyone wanting to stay in the Hayle area.”

“It is an expensive place but from the moment we arrived we found it welcoming and very well kept. We arrived at 1pm but couldn’t check in until 3pm so the friendly doorman showed us to the drawing room where we chilled out and had tea/coffee. When the room was ready we dropped our bags off and went to have our treatments in the spa - which were carried out perfectly. We had a couple more hours chilling in the spa before we got ready for dinner. At dinner in the brasserie the food quality was exquisite. If you’re a big eater you will need to order extra sides as the portions are on the small to medium size. The drinks menu is comprehensive: cocktails (alcoholic and non), wines, beers, spirits etc. After dinner we relaxed in the very large and beautiful surroundings of the bar with night cap in hand before retiring to our room. Next day after a lovely breakfast I poked my head into the snooker room. I had to ask at reception to be let in as they don’t just leave the room unlocked - for reasons only snooker enthusiasts will understand. I picked up one of the hotel cues and had a little play before heading back to the room to check out for 11am. After checking out we paid the extra £20 for the spa day rate to chill for the rest of the day and as it was 40% off all treatments in the morning we got one each for the road. All in all we had a great time and would love to go back. If you’re wanting to go somewhere extra special and wondering whether it will be worth all the money: trust me it really is.”

“Disappointed!!! My wife I stayed at Gwel an Mor with my mum back in September this year. We was really looking forward to a nice relaxing break. Unfortunately we was very disappointed with our Scandinavian lodge which was advertised as a 5 star lodge. It certainly has the potential to be nice but our experience was sadly not a good one. Upon arrival we went to our lodge to find it was extremely dirty to the point that we had to clean the lodge again before we could relax & unpack. It certainly doesn’t live up to a 5 star rating. Our bathroom was dirty with grime around the taps & shower, the bedroom floor was dirty with dust, decking was dirty, the beds were dirty, the bath robes were dirty with stains on. Plus the pool was closed for one and half days. Despite communications with Gwel an Mor along with pictures to show the state of the lodge our concerns were never acknowledged just brushed aside and told us that each lodge goes through a strict 4 hour cleaning process. It’s sad that our stay was not a pleasant experience as we was looking for a nice lodge we can keep going back to. 😞”

The outlying upstairs room we stayed in was a good size with all the accoutrements of a 4 star hotel, but the beds were hard and the rain type shower average. However, the service of the room was very good. Breakfast could be greatly improved. Service is wanting with a lack of management. There are plenty of choices, but many are lower standard with lower quality ingredients and foodstuffs. The restaurants for dinner were good on the whole, especially Vines, but be aware, all is very expensive here.”

“We loved every minute of our 1 week stay in November. The Spa facilities are 7 Star & the therapists are some of the best I have ever encountered, particularly, Lauren. The Swimming Pool was perfectly heated n the right depth & size for family fun! The outdoor jacuzzi pool was magical! Food was gourmet with good healthy & vegetarian options. Aside from that, it is always the staff that make a hotel & I think the nicest people in the West Country work in Lucknam. We can’t wait to return!”

“Just had a weekend in a lodge here. The lodge is nice. Well appointed. It was quite cold though. It is however the first week of January. We had to put the oven on and open the door to get any warmth into the living room /kitchen space. The Internet was quite weak but just enough to watch Netflix on a firestick. The people working in the bar /diner were very friendly. Sunday lunch was probably 7/10. The meat was nice but one small bowl of greens and one small bowl of roasted veg between 5 of us wasn't going to cut it. We ordered more but we'd almost finished before they came. I would visit again. In warmer months though.”

“We are staying at Bodmin Holiday Park in one of the Villas. They are very spacious inside. The one we are in has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. A good size kitchen and large dining room/living space. There is plenty of space between us and the neighbouring villa. The kitchen and bathroom and fully functional, clean and tidy just a bit dated around the edges. The overall park is nice and well kept. The fishing lakes are nice to have a walk around. The bar and restaurant look like they have had a refresh recently so we are very welcoming. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. There are plenty of local pubs in the area (we have tried a few whilst being here) that serve good pub cooked food!”
