“Fantastic little pub tucked on the edge of Dartmoor. Very cosy and quintessential, exactly what you want after a wet walk on the moors with some friends. We were a tad early for food but the two lovely ladies behind the bar served us drinks and sorted a table before taking our order to have it ready as soon as service was on. 5 awesome Beef and Ale pies led to 5 clean plates, washed down with a great selection of local beer. Hard to beat it for a Sunday activity. Can’t wait to go again!”

The tables are small and the place is pretty noisy, but that also makes it intimate and I felt it added to the atmosphere rather than annoyed me. “Booked here blind really, not from Warrington. Thank goodness we did. One of the best meals out for a very long time. The staff and service were amazing. A lovely greeting as soon as you walked in. Staff were very attentive with a good sense of humour. Starters were steak tartare, which was gorgeous, and Tempura prawns and salt and pepper squid. Batter was light, and the prawns and squid lovely and soft. Mains were meat hanging kebab with garlic oil to pour over and half lobster, both really, really tasty. We will definitely be returning. Can't recommend highly enough.”

“Very good little gem. Visited today for dinner, and greatly surprised of the quality of the pub. Inside it is absolutely spotless clean, atmosphere very cosy, and staff friendly. Food was 9/10 and service also, this due to not being double checked after we had our mains, and the veggies were microwaved and not fully cooked. We’ve noticed all the food comes on a plate, but chips and veggies separate which is a new thing and we couldn’t decide weather is working or not, as we had to share a bowl of chip’s between us. I totally recommend the pate, chicken goujons, and the pie for the main. The pie was cooked perfectly, and the beef was very very tasty and soft. Puddings 9/10, again, custard seemed to be microwaved and had some lumps inside and a jelly texture, but only few places are doing dessert in the house nowadays so its totally understandable. We’ll definitely be back as it was a worthy experience. Very good prices for food but also for the drinks considering the current markets. Thank you.”

“Went there in a group of 12 two days ago. Five stars to their service, they’re responsive and polite right from the beginning till splitting the bills individually for our reimbursement. The service was a bit slow, it took about 45mins to serve the main I guess? But the portions were generous, great flavours. I went for the 3-course dinner £34.95, parfait de Foie de Canard, salmon and crêpe au chocolat. The crepe was really big! My friends ordered the mussels and crème brûlée which were also really good. Highly recommended 👍🏻”

Dishes were not entirely mind blowing in gustatory appeal, but certainly in experience, and the Al-fresco menu was affordable. All-in-all we thought it was excellent value. Great wine also - from the recommendation. A gastronomic experience, within which we were well looked after. The whole thing was made affordable street-side.”
