“Hank's is one of the most unique and memorable places I've had the pleasure of eating. I visited one evening while I was in the city for work, expecting casual comfort food—which I did find!—but ended up having a fantastic meal and enjoying the kind of atmosphere you get when a restaurant is run by creative, talented, and passionate people just enjoying great food together. I ordered a bread plate, lasagna, and the roast pork. Portion sizes were generous but it was clear that everything belonged on the plate. The lasagna especially was the best I've ever had—it was as much a braised pork dish as it was a lasagna, and the tomato and bechamel sauces worked really well together. Roast pork was juicy, and the pickled squash and fresh vegetables really helped with contrasting textures and flavours. I hope to be back soon to see what Hank's is like in other seasons!”

“COOKS is the quintessence of burger joints. Not just for the Comox Valley, or Vancouver Island, or BC, or Canada but for all burger joints in the world. What they have to offer is the extremely scarce experience of extraordinarily delicious, yet straightforward options. It is a lost art to have a menu where every item can hold its own, while balancing simplicity and distinct character. COOKS lets their menu speak for itself. The priority to serve you a top-of-the-line meal is apparent, and their knowledge of the mighty burgers history is evident. They know very well that it must be paired with a cold-beer or a premium milkshake and fries with a personality. Sadly, I have to drive an hour to visit them so I have yet to ever pair a brew with my burger on their perfect pretty patio. Would I love it if they franchised and started World Burger Domination? Mayhap. But I assume what makes them special is their team and leadership, so unless they receive access to state-of-the art cloning technology, I will find solace in their one and only Cumberland location. tl;dr: Go to COOKS. Eat anything. Leave full and happy. Look at their funny social media accounts. Get sad and hungry cause you're not at COOKS. Repeat. (Thank you COOKS. Your restaurant and marketing bring me joy. He is very professional, goes above and beyond to meet your needs and is always happy to answer a thousands of my question during my wedding planning. Food is so amazing and so good! “We rolled in to town about 9:00 on a Tuesday evening and wanted a good pub dinner. I knew many friends (mostly locals) have recommended Black Antler so we decided to drop in. They had some good IPAs on tap so we were happy. We ordered some Pulled Pork Tacos to share and then decided on mains – Teriyaki Rice Bowl with chicken and a (I was so surprised to see this on the menu) Wagyu Beef Burger. Everything was very good. The Wagyu burger is a must try, very tasty and quite filling. Shaylynn (sp?) our server, was very helpful. Personally, I was also pleased to see that they have a pretty decent wine list. Bonus!”

I usually go for an Ahi Tuna bowl, and always make sure to order a side of yam fries, which are absolutely delicious.”
