“Booked our table online the day before ( no issues). The restaurant was very clean and staff were so friendly. The food came out relatively quickly especially as it was Saturday dinner time ! Our table had the macaroni cheese, funghi pizza,.some sides and a risotto. All of which was delicious. So fresh and hot ! Cocktails are so cheap (£7) which is a great deal if you like that ! Will definitely return”

“Great ice cream and a large variety of flavours!! 1 scoop is £3.50, 2 scoops is £4.50 and 3 scoops is £5.50. Reasonably priced as they taste really good, very rich and true to the flavours. It's a very small, cute store that sells coffee, ice creams and sweets. Staff was nice and friendly and service was quick. It's very conveniently located next to a fish and chip shop (the bay) so after eating fish and chip, end the meal with an ice cream!!”

Parking was available near the main entrance, the floor is all on one level and the seats are comfortable, I have a spinal condition and found the seating arrangements very manageable. “Coming down the A9 we diverted here for a late lunch. We'd pegged it as a place to stop based on the other reviews, and the place lived up to it's reputation. We only had ice-cream ourselves, but the other diners had food that looked just like in many of the review pictures. We arrived on a Thursday at about 1:30pm. It wasn't busy and we ordered at the counter after waiting for only one other person. It was a great place to stop and I'm glad we did. The ice cream was really good quality, the atmosphere was great, the mini store was nice, service and attitudes were pleasant, the washroom/toilets were clean. They have a small store for farm produce, and an outside seating area with animal pens and great views of the surrounding countryside. Well worth a visit.”

“Visited this lovely restaurant for a Saturday lunch in November. Beautiful interiors (and equally quirky exteriors!) with a fascinating history. The staff were all so friendly and the place was busy even in November, so booking is recommended, you really get the feeling it’s a community favourite round here. We had the Lobster Thermidor, which was brilliant. It came with instructions on how to crack open the lobster and we had a few laughs with the manager while doing it. Very generous portion sizes. We had the Apple Pie for dessert which was also excellent. The staff gave us some tips on where to continue our adventure, there’s a seaside walk to the nearby Blackness Castle which rounded off a wonderful afternoon. 10/10 - will return again for sure. Thank you to everyone at The Lobster Pot!”

“Excellent food let down by truly terrible service with an enforced tip. Our Spanish waiter was rude and impatient, rolling his eyes as we ordered. Did not make us feel welcome, and hurried us along, especially with the wine choices. We were hoping for recommendations and instead it felt like he was a breath away from tutting at us. We were sat outside, which is really inside the centre, but it was weird having people walk past you to go to other bars while you're eating. Not a very good atmosphere really, and if we had been given a choice to dine inside the restaurant, we would have taken it. Food quality was excellent. I'd strongly recommend the scallops and black pudding, but you can't go wrong with anything here. The chorizo was delicious but definitely stays with you for a few hours. All of our food bar the mushroom dish was served at the same time. We waited about ten minutes and then flagged down a curly haired server, who told us that "it's probably still coming". It wasn't. A different person came to clear our plates and when we asked again, she said that he "probably forgot". No accountability. We finally got the mushrooms, but the entire table had finished eating by then. Not great at all. An enforced tip on the bill sealed the deal. I'm sure we could have asked them to remove it but no doubt it would have took another 30 minutes. Would we come back? Probably not. There's other places nearby that do good food with actual competent service.”

“Went to dinner here 2 nights in a row during our trip to hike Ben Nevis as were staying at the youth hostel nearby. Excellent and friendly service, and it was great both nights - first when we didn’t have a reservation so ate cafeteria style at the bar and next evening when we had the quieter restaurant booking. Didn’t matter as food was off the same menu and excellent both evenings. The potato skins in particular were to die for with generous portions. The rest of the food too was great and made for great pre and post hiking fuel! It was obvious this was a special place for Fort William locals who are otherwise starved for great places to eat.”
