Lochranza Distillery
4.7
( 8 reviews )

Lochranza, Isle of Arran KA27 8HJ, United Kingdom

“Arran whisky is distilled here, I will let you judge the whisky however the distillery is well worth a visit. The location is stunning and only about 5 minutes drive from the ferry port of Lochranza, which sails from Claonaig on the mainland. The shop has a good variety and the staff are excited about the whisky and experience they give visitors, especially on special release days. Also worth a visit is their sister distillery Lagg, who h is literally the other end of the island.”

Jim Clark Motorsport Museum
4.8
( 8 reviews )

44 Newtown St, Duns TD11 3AU, United Kingdom

“Not dog friendly. This was not an issue for our visit as the boys stayed in the car. It took 30-40 minutes to go around. On the ground floor so wheelchair friendly. £6 per adult. Worth a visit.”

Rspb Scotland Loch Leven
4.6
( 8 reviews )

B9097, Kinross KY13 9LX, United Kingdom

“A really lovely RSPB reserve that wasn't too far to drive from Edinburgh. The visitor centre was open when we visited and the staff were exceptionally friendly and pointed us to the telescope where we were able to see one of the last ospreys of the year before they migrate. There are several hides to observe the wildlife and binoculars can be hired from the centre if needs be. The car park is open 24/7 and the reserve can be accessed when the visitor centre is open - especially useful in winter or for early risers. There are a number of trails of different lengths and ability levels and the Leafy Loop is wheelchair/mobility device/pram friendly, although I would advise caution when the weather is wetter. Accessible toilet facilities, baby changing facilities and a picnic area all available. Overall I'd highly recommend!”

Lagavulin Distillery
4.7
( 8 reviews )

Lagavulin, Isle of Islay PA42 7DZ, United Kingdom

“The bar area was closed due to the Jazz festival so didn't get to sample any drams. Unlike most others there didn't appear to be an outside area to wander round to view the Distillery from the outside other than the path that takes you down to the wildlife viewing area unless that was accessed through the bar. The shop was very good and staff was nice but had that almost aloof feel. That said I maybe persuaded to re evaluate my assessment on my return visit.”

PFH5+MG, Montrose DD10 9LQ, United Kingdom

“As members of the NTS we had a guided tour of the house. Our guide was very knowledgeable and also had a good sense of humour. The house was amazing with some beautiful views of the gardens and Montrose basin. After our tour we had soup and tea in the Cafe which was lovely before having a walk through the grounds on the various trails. Well worth a visit.”

“We chose not to go down into the mine, its pretty wet down there at the moment and two of us weren't wearing the correct footwear. I wasn't feeling the confined space thing either haha but the test of the tour was lovely. All guides are lovely and friendly as is the girl on the tea room which was also a lovely wee place.”

High Wards Farm, Gartocharn, Alexandria G83 8SB, United Kingdom

“Warm welcome and plenty of information on what's been seen recently. Car park isn't huge but it wasn't an issue for us. It's a fair walk down to the Loch itself but very picturesque and worth the walk. A few hides along the way as well as pond dipping available for the kids”

Black Isle Show
4.6
( 10 reviews )
Close until 10:00 AM

Mannsfield, Showground, Muir of Ord IV6 7QA, United Kingdom

“We go quite regularly and this year it seemed to be more popular than ever. Long queue to park them long queue to get tickets until they opened 3 more ticket booths. Unfortunately we were near the front of the queue when they did that. It's first and foremost an agricultural show so, if you're up from south of the border, don't expect many trade stalls. No plants, clothing, garden furniture or ornaments. But there are some craft and food stalls.”

Hermitage Castle
4.5
( 16 reviews )

Newcastleton, Hawick TD9 0LU, United Kingdom

“What a place! Visited on a sunny beautiful Tuesday morning. Driving there on the single track roads winding through the hills you could not see the castle till you were very close to it. Such a mind blowing and Huge castle in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely brilliant place to visit and the surrounding area is so beautiful also. The staff member at the site was so so nice and she was so helpful especially with all the questions we bombarded her with.”

Highland Park Whisky Distillery

Holm Rd, Kirkwall KW15 1SU, United Kingdom

“Wow what a place and what a tour. We are given the history of the land and how long they've been in service. We learned about how they processed all their food and how they did everything and it was quite spectacular to see the hundreds of barrels of whiskey waiting to be consumed and bottled. The tasting we did was definitely worth the price. We had some incredible spirits. We enjoyed our guide. He took us through the whole property and then at the end we were give it an opportunity to buy some limited edition. Whiskeys. Definitely give yourself an hour check to place out. You will definitely love it”
