“My son visited with his scout group, they had them all dressed and watched safety video to then be told they didn't have a helmet to fit him. He is 11 and of fairly average size, there were 16 in his group and he was the only one not allowed to race. He has Asperger’s and it took a huge amount of courage for him to attend. I wonder why and how they think this is ok? Advertised that children from 8 can attend but they don't have equipment to accommodate? The manager offered him to use later matrix on his own away from his group and thought this was acceptable! I can't work out why they would not have a helmet to fit and sincerely hope this does not happen to anyone else. Anyone who knows about ASD will understand how deeply this has affected my son and how it has already and will in the future affect trips to new places.”

“Visiting a friend I had the chance to visit the Glasgow Climbing Centre a few times. Although the staff is friendly and there are plenty of auto-belay routes regularly renewed, I won't miss coming here. Being a converted church Glasgow Climbing Centre is quite dark inside, there are plenty of pillars in unsuitable places, and the bouldering room is cramped. The music is also on low volume and it's never been really well attended (especially downstairs it was spooky quiet), so it was hard to get in a good climbing groove there with a sense of community. What upset me the most is when my, granted, quite inexperienced friend climbed a steep beginner's boulder (pink 5+ in the photo) and fell normally close to the top, he hit his head on a very closely located pillar that's unprotected and even has holds. He bled profusely but luckily was fine. The staff was helpful and friendly, oddly experienced dealing with incidents (a la "We do this almost every other day") and not at all concerned about the threat of injury by leaving a pillar unprotected so close to the routes finish. Never did they even suggest that another look may be taken at this setup to keep the fall zone cleared from obstacles. We've had many discussions since (albeit not with the staff) and most are either surprised and shocked that this accident was made possible. My friend could have died if he had fallen only a bit closer to the column and opened his head on one of the holds. I'm not an experienced climber myself but neither have I seen such a threat in a bouldering section before, nor do I plan on supporting any gym that shows such little care to minimize risk for injury or death.”

“Had an amazing time here. I haven't been rollerblading since I was a child and I was worried I would struggle but the staff are extremely helpful and give you tips and tricks for how to skate. Even if you fall they block others from skating around you so you have plenty of time to stand back up. The music was great and overall I would recommend to adults and children looking for a bit of fun!”

“Great fun activity, especially in a group. There were 6 of us. I thought I would have had more fun doing crazy golf or an escape room. Wasn't really bothered about this. Well I was really surprised, it was great fun. Instructor Greig was really helpful. Dry and droll sense of humour, but gave good demonstration and advice. One handed throwing. Two handed throwing. Two axe throwing..... All trickier than you expect, there is a proper technique to learn. But great fun.”

“The car park is well positioned but very busy even in January. You may struggle to park at busy times. The well signed walk to the falls is a bit muddy in parts but suitable for most levels of fitness and a baby buggy; possibly a robust mobility scooter and is well worth it as they are spectacular. The longer loop walk is steep at the start but worth the effort with great views as you climb out of the river valley.”

“16 Sept 23 Excellent place, very friendly staff. We stopped off to swim, went to see the young lady in reception, very helpfull. Hot shower after then coffee, chips and cake ( dogs allowed ). We even filled our 10L tank with fresh water. It was so good we went back on the 17 Sept 23, same routine. A few people about having fun in the water and eating in the cafe. You will need to book if you want to carry out an activity or use the accommodation.”

When I arrived, I had to wait for other kids in my group and that encroached into our allocated time. “I have been at swimming pool on Sunday 1st October. There was few foreign women with lots of children. Definitely they broke all possible rules (leaving the diaper on the side of swimming pool, had more than 1 non swimmer child under 4 years old, using line for playing instead of swimming and not listening to lifeguards at all). Reception should count every children before let them in because this threatened the health and life of these children.”

“Been here on multiple occasions for a walk. It's a great spot for a picnic. Loads of people camp and for most part take their rubbish with them. Lots of dog walkers, horses and cyclists. Kids love jumping across all the old fallen trees and dipping their toes in the water. One of my favourite areas in Edinburgh. Two car parks that can be used for here and threipmuir Reservoir. Does get rather busy. There is also portable toilets.”
